Staying here is another torture for me, because I have been hearing whispers about my look, and nobody is willing to stay where I am unless they want to bully me. Or, they want me to react so that they could find something to say.
My massive hair growth and longer nails is even a fair part of their rumor. I have heard them thousands of times saying that I'm a witch. Some of them even believe that I killed my parents.
The only people whom I always rely on are my grandparents, who took me in after my parents' death. I sometimes try to kill myself and sometimes try to get out of my nightmare and this terrible world.
The women in the street also send their children away from me and lock them inside so that they wouldn't come out to meet me except for Brandon, who always takes my back. And that earned him the position as my best friend since we were kids.
I can say that Brandon was my only friend that always gave me a comfort zone and a shoulder to cry on when I needed one.
I sat down outside on a wooden chair so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice the Alpha from the neighboring pack passing by.
He greeted me many times but my mind had already traveled far away and I couldn't notice his presence. If anyone who didn't really know me, or those who hated me were around me, their thoughts would have been that I'm such a rude lady.
However, there was more to me not paying him the respect he deserves because I was lost in my thoughts. I do not think he actually deserves my respect because he was one of those who bullies me every time including his pack.
"You're just one powerless wolf from another weak pack." His words always rang in my ears whenever I saw him.
Nonetheless, there was a reason for whatever I faced from them. Or, probably that's just what I always think.
I am Alexa Silverman, the only child of the Silverman family. I had lost both of my parents in a wild battle. Although I heard stories before that about my parents from my grandparents who had taken me in.
Coming to my current location, I was tagged as a mysterious girl and a witch all through my grandparents pack. I didn't want to call them my pack because they never treated me as one of them. To them, I was weak.
From everything I was told by my grandparents, I was forced to believe that my birth only brought a great disaster into my family and the whole community at large.
I shook the moment I felt a touch on my shoulder. I turned back to confirm who it was.
"Alexis?" I spoke. She was the one who tapped me on my shoulder indicating that I should exchange greetings to the alpha who was standing right in front of me.
I looked around me as I stood up. The sight of everyone focusing on me made me feel uncomfortable.
I quickly thought of what to say to him to avoid any further problems. Quickly, I stepped forward to bow to him.
"Greetings Alpha, I'm sorry for not responding to you on time. I have gone too far in my thoughts." I said slowly to the alpha, and stayed silent, awaiting his response. But, I was aware that no positive comments would come out of his mouth.
Unexpectedly, he raised his hands and slapped my face, while the others exchanged cheerful glances at one another.
"Oh you, this wicked witch. Do you think you could just kill me as you have killed your father?" The alpha said angrily to me without even considering the people watching.
I stared at him in confusion. Where the hell did such words come from? What made him say so? Why did he have to involve my parents?
Still watching him, I could hear his words still ringing in my head like an anthem. But I hoped that I would have gotten used to it by now.
The most painful thing was the people watching as he slapped my face. Their laughter and smiles only burned my heart. I couldn't hold it anymore, and I broke down in tears.
Just as he was close to hitting me again, Brandon unexpectedly came to my aid. He blocked him, stopping him.
I could see the anger burning on the alpha's face and I became scared of him using his wolf powers.
Brandon was, of course, a human, and he had no idea of the existence of wolves around him. I believe that's one of the reasons we're still waxing strong. Sometimes, I wonder what would happen if eventually he finds out that I'm, in one way or the other, linked to becoming a wolf? Would my dear friend leave me behind?
He quietly pleaded with the Alpha, apologizing on my behalf and promised him that whatever happened wouldn't happen again.
I still couldn't fathom why the Alpha had left like he did, but I was thankful. Another day for me to escape their wrath.
This was exactly what I was going through at home and whenever I got to school too, I received a slap from my classmates. Especially from Emily Baker, the god of the school who was also the head of everyone at the school due to her father's charity donations.
Even the school authorities had made it obvious that she was to be respected. And that was what gave her the authority to bully whoever she wanted.
My life was truly confusing and damaging. And the worst of it all was I couldn't let my grandparents know. They were old already. I don't think there's anything they could do.
Now watching Brandon, I didn't know what to do. He stared at me, but I couldn't place how he was feeling, or how he felt. All I could do was just sit and drown in my thoughts.
