CHAPTER THREE

1044 Words
Her grandmother suddenly became a bit sad that morning, though she tried hiding it but she couldn't control her feelings. She became so thoughtful for a moment, then she said solemnly… "Is that really so?" Tears began to trickle down from her eyes immediately. Alexa, who had observed something wrong with her grandma, looked so worried and couldn't stop wondering what was going on. "Grandma, please be happy. It's my special day today. You're making me feel uncomfortable already." Alexa said to her. Her father also became emotional, which made Alex share some tears as well. She couldn't grab what the problem might be, but she was interested. If it could cause her grandparents to cry, then it was important. "What's going on?" Alexa asked confusingly with tears in her face. Her grandmother took a deep breath and said to her slowly. It was just eighteen years ago when it all happened. Her eyes took on a dreamy look as she told the story. Alexa took a deep breath feeling so emotional as she listened to her grandmother. Her grandmother tried to comfort herself, then continued. She was silent a bit and sipped the coffee she was holding thoughtfully. Alex stayed silent where she was and continued listening to her. "It was eighteen years ago when I lost my one and only son who was your father," her grandmother explained. Alex couldn't stop wondering and asked out of curiosity. "So you aren't my parents? Is that what you're implying?" she questioned. Her grandparents looked so worried, then proceeded to respond. "Well I think you're no more a kid but a young adult." She said to her thoughtfulness. With the tears still trickling down her cheeks, her grandfather moved to her thoughtfully to clear her tears. The mood went on mournfully and her grandparents couldn't continue the story. Although now, Alexa was well aware that the person she thought to be her parents were not her parents but ground parents. ************ Alex quickly woke up the next day more than usual and took her bath immediately. After sweeping the floor and cleaning the plates she had used the previous night, she prepared for school. As she went on with what she was doing, her mind traveled to the new school she had joined. She wondered how everything would turn out for her. She couldn't place how she felt yet. All she did was hop and look forward to having a best time. Alongside those thoughts, the thought that she'd go outside and feel the fresh air, feel the beauty of nature and meet new people gave her joy. That beautiful morning, she tried to do everything to please my grandmother and not to change her mind because she knew how easily she changed her mind. Especially if she made a single mistake. Immediately after she was all ready, she went to her room to inform her that she was ready. And she was so lucky to see her awake already. "Good morning ma." She greeted her in excitement. "Good morning dear." Her grandmother responded, looking down at her. Her next action freaks her heart and she almost cries thinking that she's changed her mind, especially when she sees her rolling eyeballs. She almost fainted, the sudden silence after her response also almost turned her insane. Shortly after the greetings and the strange looks, her grandmother left her in her room and moved to another room close to the guest room. Their house was so large with many rooms. The room she went to had been abandoned for some years. Alexa tried to follow her to see how the room looked. She asked her to go back to her room and wait for her. Five minutes later, her grandmother came back with a portrait in her hand. Alexa sat beside her and wondered who was there in the portrait. Immediately after they were seated, her grandmother began to narrate in detail about the people in the picture she's brought to show her. That morning, Alexa learned a few important things about her birth and everything she has been longing to know since her birthday. Shortly after that, her grandmother gave her a new dress she made for her. Alexa really felt so much excitement that morning, feeling like a childhood pampering for the first time. She could watch through the window how other mothers pampered their children and she always felt jealous of it. Today, she feels what it's like to be a child. Immediately, she quickly undressed and changed to the new one her grandmother had made for her in excitement. After taking on the new dress, her grandmother prepared a light breakfast for her. While eating breakfast, she was warned not to cause any trouble when she gets to school, no matter the circumstances and also be careful with her choice of friends. Alex thought about her grandmother's advice and she promised her to keep to her advice. Few minutes later, Alex got to the school. While her grandmother brought her directly to the school director, Mr. James and she left immediately. Mr. James took her to her new class and introduced her. As Alexa was about to get into her class, she heard a toxic noise coming from the classroom. The class teacher quickly walked so fast to catch up with what the noise was all about and she also ran as fast as she could to witness the situation in the classroom. But, everything was so complicated as she got to the classroom. Everything went down immediately. The sudden noise went away immediately and Alexa met the classroom organized without any trace of fighting or anything that could lead to noise. Alexa's class teacher looked into her eyes surprisingly. Both of them were confused about the outcome of events. What they had heard was not what they had come to see. "Good morning you all. Standing right here beside me is Alexa. She has come here to join you. Please, welcome her to the family. She's part of us now." said the class teacher. Immediately, loud laughter erupted from the back. And as she looked in the direction, her eyes met him. He was the most handsome guy she had ever seen.
