Catherine froze, a tempest of emotions swirling inside her. She nodded, choosing to remain silent.
Then, with a gentle tilt of his arm, Adam pulled Catherine into his embrace. "Sneaking off last night, huh? How should I make you pay for that?" he teased.
Catherine's eyes widened in surprise. Was he really going to hold this over her head?
"I... I was just tired. Isn't it normal to come back and sleep?" she stammered, scrambling for an excuse.
"Not at all," Adam replied, unfazed. He held her firmly against him, his eyes locking onto hers, deep and misty like a mysterious ocean, pulling her in.
Her mind was still tangled up in the confusion from the night before.
"Who told you to come out of the dressing room with Janie, looking so cozy?"
