The walk was quiet on the way back home. Jason looked down at his clothes which were burned and tattered. He looked at his arms which were scabbing and healing from the 3rd degree burns. Now it looks like he was dragged by a motorcycle. The more Jason rubbed his arms, the more he can see his skin turning back to normal. This is crazy, as he followed Becca back to his place. Pulling the lobby door open, Becca walked towards the elevator and pressed for the doors to open. Jason looked up at the screen to see what floor the elevator was on, and groaned.
"s**t, not again." Hitting the wall, he walked towards the exit. "Will have to go to the other side and use that elevator to cross over." Becca grabbed his arm and shook her head. Pulling him towards the staircase, she pointed up. "Oh hell no! I'm too tired, I would rather take the..."
"No, Jason, you shouldn't be tired at all. This is usually the time that you should have more energy, especially from the big feast you had." Becca pointed up the stairs again, and started climbing the steps.
Leaning against the wall he watched Becca climb up the steps, why can't I remember you? He took a breath and climbed behind her, digging through his memory, Jason came up with nothing. The only memory that he has of Becca was her scent. He knows deep in his mind that she had a special place, but how special was she to him? As Jason looked up, he caught a glimpse of her back. Her black hair was bouncing behind her, stopping midway down her back. Her shoulders looked soft and slender, but he can see strength as she walked up the steps. Her waist and hips were small, the curve of her hips perfectly rounded her butt. Biting his bottom lip, his eyes continued to watch her butt as it moved up the steps. Stopping on the third floor, she turned around almost bumping into Jason. Her perfume filled his nostrils, putting him in a daze. He looked into Beccas eyes, and fought through his memory of her. Her lips moved softly, as she spoke to him. Shaking his head, the clouds around his head was gone and was staring into Beccas eyes.
"Jason?"
Shaking his head, he squeezed his eyes and looked down to adjust to the floor. Tiny bugs were moving on the tiles. Looking back up again into Becca’s dark brown eyes. "You want to race?"
"So you did hear me? You look as if you were in space for a bit."
"Sort of, up to where, the roof?"
Becca smiled, "Let's see how fast you are. Are you ready?"
Standing next to Becca, he looked up at the stairs as it curved up to the roof. A lot of turns, and fifteen flights of concrete steps up to the roof, where the finish line is. Jason nodded as Becca smiled and got into position.
"To the roof, no stopping." Jason looked up the steps and knew every turn and step in the staircase. Shrugging his shoulders, he planted his left foot on the next step and looked at Becca who was ready for the climb. "This is going to be interesting."
Becca smiled, "On your mark... Get set..." Smiling at each other, they both looked up the stairs. "GO!" Neck and neck they started to run up the stairs, Jason looked up at Becca watching her sprint up the steps, he could smell her sweat as in seconds they passed the sixth floor. Bumping into her, he picked up speed as he felt his feet lifting off the floor and flying up the walls. Watching Becca, fly next to him, bouncing from rail to rail. The exits and steps looked as if it has blended together into a turn table, as they ran in circles up to the rooftop. Passing the thirteenth floor, Jason picked up more speed leaving Becca a couple of feet behind. Looking up between the rails Jason can spot the exit to the roof, and watched Becca spiral upward towards the exit door, skipping a couple of floors past him.
"Oh no you're not." he jumped behind Becca, landing next to her and burst through the roof door. Jason felt exhilarated as he felt his whole body lift off from the roof and soar through the air. The warm breeze touched his skin as he spiraled into the night sky. "I can't believe this!" Jason stopped and looked down seeing the lights of Lower Manhattan. The Empire State Building glowed in the nightline. Quickly his body started to drop back to the rooftop. Gravity was pushing him back down again, feeling his shirt, pants and cheeks move up as he plummeted down. "Will I break my legs if I try to land on my feet?" Jason thought frantically, as he continued to fall faster back to earth. Seeing the rooftop to his building spin, he closed his eyes, not wanting to see what will happen. He felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist as he felt his body jolt and landed smoothly back onto the rooftop. Opening his eyes, Becca’s arms were wrapped around his waist. Her head was facing down, showing Jason the top of her head, her hair was all over her shoulders.
Letting go, she took a step back and sucked in some air. "That was close. I don't think you know how to land yet." Walking towards the edge of the roof, Becca looked down watching the cars pass by. "And, yes, you would've broken your legs if you tried to land."
Straightening his shirt, Jason scrunched his face and stood beside her. "I think I would've made it. I didn't think that I could've made it up the steps out of breath and with the speed that I was running, I would've ran into the walls." Just thinking about it made Jason smirk a little. Becca rolled her eyes and shook her head. Her black hair bounced loosely. Grabbing her hair, Becca pulled off the hair piece and tied her hair back into a pony tail. Jason slowly inhaled and smelled the essence from her hair. Becca looked up at Jason, her lips perked into a small smile. He snapped out of it once he noticed that he was staring at Becca too long.
"It's late and I have to get home to Calica. You should rest."
Becca started to walk towards the door back into the building. Jason hesitated before he followed her, and looked up into the sky. Wondering how far and fast can he go, will anyone notice? Jason thought out loud, "Let's see."
