I hesitated at the doorway, unsure whether I should enter my room. Did I forget to lock the door when I left earlier? Or had someone else entered? A thief? But how? This school is known for its tight security and student privacy.
I gripped the strap of my bag tightly. If someone was inside, I could quickly throw my bag at them and run out into the hallway. I glanced at the adjacent rooms; most students didn't come back early or stayed at school after their lessons, so there weren't many people in the dorm yet.
I swallowed hard, slowly turning the door knob and stepping inside. Nothing seemed out of place in the kitchen or living room. If someone had broken in, they would've ransacked my stuff and searched for anything valuable they could take.
