Lily didn't know who this man was, but the strong drowsiness and headache returned, and she could only let herself fall back into sleep.

"Who are you? What are you doing here? Where's Arthur? Where did he go?"
Lily heard a commotion and groggily opened her eyes to see a well-dressed, beautiful woman standing before her, flanked by two attendants. She looked aggressive and somewhat irritable.
This woman was Vivian Morris, the beloved youngest daughter of the Morris family leader. The Morris family had a verbal marriage agreement with the Bronte family, so Vivian had always considered herself the future hostess of the Bronte family.
Lily didn't know who Arthur was and had no idea how she had offended this woman. Just waking from unconsciousness, her mind wasn't clear. So when faced with Vivian's questioning, Lily was at a loss for words.
"Don't play dumb. Didn't you hear my question? What's your relationship with Arthur? Answer me now!"
Just a short while ago, someone had informed Vivian that Arthur had carried a woman into this room.
Upon hearing this, Vivian had rushed over immediately, eager to confront the woman who dared seduce Arthur.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Who is Arthur?" Lily forced herself to stand up and looked directly at Vivian as she answered.
Seeing Lily's bewildered expression, Vivian sneered, "I've encountered many women like you. All pretending to be pitiful and frail, using tricks to get close to Arthur. You just want to get some money, right?
I must admit you are indeed prettier than those before. But no matter what, you're not worthy of Arthur. If you're wise, leave here and go as far as you can. Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude!"
"Sorry, I really don't know what you are talking about. Please move. I need to leave." Lily maintained her composure in the face of Vivian's dominance.
Vivian persisted. "Don't try to fool me. Someone saw him bring you into this room. Also, aren't you wearing Arthur's clothes?"
So his name was Arthur. He had saved her life. Lily paused to recall what had happened and could faintly remember the name Arthur.
Seeing Lily's silence, Vivian thought she was guilty and became more convinced of her thoughts. Getting angrier, she decided to teach Lily a lesson.
She signaled to the bodyguards behind her, and two burly men immediately stepped forward and grabbed Lily's arms. Vivian walked up to Lily.
"Now, if you promise never to appear before Arthur or me again, I'll let you go. Otherwise, I can't guarantee what will happen next." Vivian continued with her threats.
Although Lily came from a humble background and couldn't compare to those affluent ladies, she refused to tolerate disrespect. She remained silent and did not submit.
Seeing Lily's calm demeanor, Vivian was consumed by anger. In a fit of rage, she tore off the brooch from her chest and viciously aimed it at Lily's beautiful face.
Lily gathered all her strength to wrestle free and grabbed Vivian's wrist firmly.
"Vivian!" A stern male voice called from behind, causing Vivian to shudder in fright.
"What are you doing?"
Arthur walked into the room and was shocked at the scene before him. He had brought Lily here for the doctor to check on her. After learning she was fine and just needed some rest, he went to attend to his own business. He didn't expect to see this when he returned.
Seeing Arthur return, Vivian immediately switched her demeanor, smiling as she clasped Arthur's arm tightly. "Arthur, where have you been? I've missed you," she cooed, pressing her breasts against his arm.
"Let go of me," Arthur said, his eyes flashing a hint of disgust as he looked at Vivian clinging to him. "Answer me."
Feeling guilty, Vivian forced a smile and hurriedly explained, "I was just making a new friend. We were only joking around."
How could joking around require the help of bodyguards? It was clear to Arthur that Vivian was bullying Lily. He found her forced smile repulsive.
"Get out!" Arthur demanded sharply, his tone curt and final.
"You..." Vivian hadn't expected Arthur to be so merciless in public. Tears of grievance welled up in her eyes. "You promised my brother you'd look after me, and now you yelled at me for another woman."
"I wish your brother never had a sister like you," Arthur replied coldly, his indifference chilling. "Don't make me repeat myself. Take your people and leave!"
Vivian didn't dare to say anything more and could only leave in humiliation. Before leaving, she gave Lily a venomous glare as if she blamed her for everything.
"Thank you for saving me. You are Mr. Bronte's son, aren't you?"
Arthur acknowledged her gratitude with gentlemanly decorum.
"No need for thanks."
Noting Lily's bewildered gaze, he added,
"We're even now."
Arthur was the first to take his leave. Lily straightened her crumpled skirt and made her way back to the church.
The ceremony had long concluded, and the attendees were now making their way to a dinner celebration at the Bronte Manor.
Most of the people attending the funeral were Leto's friends and business partners. They surrounded him, making it impossible for Lily to approach and tell him what she had just experienced and seek help. Besides, she wasn't sure if Leto would help her.
Throughout the walk, she could feel the unsettling stares and whispers of the people around her.
Leto's wife passed away many years ago, and he had dated a few lovers since then. Later, he met Lily's mother. He was deeply attracted to this gentle and beautiful woman, who reminded him of his late wife. Because of this, Leto had always taken good care of Lily's mother and her.
However, Leto never made his relationship with Lily's mother public, which led everyone to view her merely as Leto's mistress, a poor country woman who was abandoned by her alcoholic husband.
They looked down on Lily's mother and had even less respect for her daughter.
Lily didn't care about the opinions of these high-society people.
What she cared about was how to get rid of her unscrupulous father. After all, she might not be so lucky to find a powerful man like Arthur willing to help her next time.
What should she do in the days ahead?
