CHAPTER4

~Aurora~ I ran as far and quickly as my legs could take me. Getting away from the pack and Tyler is the best thing for me to do, because I am not worthy in his eyes, and I cannot be a toy for him either. I still have a life to live and goals to attain, and when I do, I will return to Tyler Stone, to teach him a lesson. I could feel blisters forming on the soles of my feet, but I didn't stop, even when I stumbled over some roots and scratched my entire arm and face. The agony I experienced was merely a dull pounding in the back of my mind. If I can hear them, it suggests they aren't too far away. "Find her," Tyler growled, "she couldn't have gone too far." I can only think what Tyler would do if he discovered me. His ego would be damaged if someone ran away from him, let alone his favorite punching bag. If he finds me, he will make my life horrible. And it isn't just him; the rest of the pack will assume I fled because I had something to hide. I'll never have another second of tranquility again. I came to a stop in front of a tree with the pack crest markings, and I knew I was at the pack border. I took a quick glance around to make sure the border patrol wasn't nearby. They would quickly take me to Tyler without hesitation. I let out a long breath and crossed the pack line. It struck me like a knife and also felt like a breath of fresh air. What if there is worse life outside the pack than within it? I've only ever been in this pack, and I have no idea what it will be like to be outside of it. This time, I transformed into my gorgeous wolf because I knew Tyler would sense our bond weakening and come looking for me. I truly missed this and no one knew I could change. This time, it was early in the morning when I finally came to a halt. I can't believe I've been running all night because of Tyler. I rested against a tree to catch my breath, and I was so focused on resting that I failed to notice the insignia of a pack crest on the tree until I was face to face with two Border Patrol wolves. I'm relieved that at this point, I'd returned to my human form and had hidden my wolf as usual. My first instinct was to leave, and I had started getting ready to do so when one of them gave out a snarl that stopped me in my tracks. "Stop," I froze on impulse and slowly rotated until I was staring directly into their soulless eyes. I raised my hands to show that I intended no harm, but their spears were pointed at me as a result of my unexpected action. They had a different pack emblem on their armor, so I knew they were not Tyler's guys, but I still don't trust them. They'll send me back to Tyler once they know who I am. "Who are you?" One of them inquired, but I remained silent. I didn't want to jeopardize my safety by revealing my genuine identity as an Omega or not. I simply kept staring at them. "Is she deaf?" the other person questioned. "Maybe she's a spy or a rogue." "What do you think we should do with her? " Let's just take her to the alpha. "I don't want any trouble," I said, raising my hands higher with an imploring tone in my voice. "Just let me go in peace, I beg of you. "Hmm, you do have a lovely body," one of them replied with a sneer on his face. "I can't let you go, you're on our territory." "I didn't realize that; it was an honest error. Just let me grab my luggage and leave, and we'll pretend this ever happened." "We cannot do that.” When I noticed that they were fighting over whether to take me to their Alpha or have fun with me, I decided to take quick action and try to flee. However, they anticipated my move because one of them grabbed my arm with a bruising grip and threw me back against the tree, breaking my neck against the wall. He warned me that fighting would just make my misery worse as I attempted to fight my way out of the hold. I was starting to regret my decision to leave the pack at this point, and I had no idea what these two intended to do with me. It required both of them to keep me stable, and they pulled me into the pack before shoving me into the cell. As soon as the door slammed shut, I yelled and began screaming; I didn't want my life to turn out like this, and it was all Tyler's fault. "Shut the f**k up before our alpha has our heads." I overheard one of them say something, but that didn't stop me from screaming even louder this time. One of them advanced towards my cell and came in to strike me so hard on the floor that I stopped shouting, and immediately he froze, while the other two stood at attention to respond to someone walking in. I could tell it was their Alpha based on their body movement and behavior. I waited with bated breath as I sensed him move closer to my cell. I kept my head down because I didn't want to irritate him, but some unseen force caused me to lift my head as his feet approached the front of my cage, and I let out a gasp. He was tall, had broad shoulders, dark hair, and was quite well-built, but all I could think about was "How was this happening again?" "How? I've never heard of it happening to anyone that rapidly. At that moment, I was really losing it and becoming weak. "Who did this to you," with a concerned look on his face he asked me, glancing at the wounds on my face. I quickly dropped to the ground after pointing my small fingers in the direction of his guards. "How dare you lay your finger on her." His voice was rife with fury. “But Alpha, we saw her patrolling and…”, the guard couldn't finish his statement. “I don't care where you saw her from,” he spoke almost immediately. "Get my mate out of that cell now,". This was the last thing I heard before I was surrounded by my own darkness.
