⋄CHAPTER 6⋄

2700 Words
Kelsey's head throbbed with a dull ache as she reluctantly opened her eyes, the morning sunlight piercing through her bedroom window. The room spun around her, her senses still muddled from the remnants of last night's indulgence. She winced, her temples pulsating with every beat of her heart. In her disoriented state, Kelsey reached for her cell phone, hoping to find some semblance of normalcy in the familiar glow of the screen. But instead, her hand brushed against a half-empty bottle of red wine, a harsh reminder of her escapades. Multiple crumpled tissues scattered across her bedside table, serving as evidence of her emotional unraveling. As the memories flooded back, embarrassment washed over her in a suffocating wave. How could she have let herself go that far with Lucas? And worse, how had she failed to notice when he discarded her, leaving her feeling discarded and worthless? Seeking solace in her solitude, Kelsey had returned home and drowned her sorrows in wine until sleep mercifully claimed her. But now, as the morning light spilled into her room, the weight of her actions bore down upon her. She longed for the ground to open up and swallow her whole, to shield her from the consequences of her impulsive desires. With heavy footsteps, Kelsey dragged herself out of bed and made her way to the bathroom. The sight that greeted her in the mirror was a shock to her already fragile self-esteem. Dark circles rimmed her tired eyes, but it was the numerous marks adorning her neck and shoulders that brought a deep blush to her cheeks. Each hickey was a silent reminder of the passion that had consumed her, the desire she had willingly surrendered to. Her fingers traced the imprints left by Lucas's lips, and her body responded with a shiver. She closed her eyes, lost in the memory of his touch, the way his hands explored her body, driving her to the edge of her desire. The intensity of their encounter replayed in her mind, a vivid recollection that mingled with her confusion and insecurity. But then reality crashed back down upon her as her mind replayed Lucas's abrupt dismissal. Why had he asked her to leave after bringing her so close to the edge of ecstasy? What was it about her that he didn't like? Did he find her shallow, unworthy of his attention? The questions swirled in her mind, tormenting her fragile self-image. Just as she stood there, lost in her thoughts, the sound of her phone's notification shattered the silence. Startled, Kelsey followed the sound to the kitchen, where her phone sat on the table, a cruel messenger of further heartache. With trembling hands, she picked it up and read the message from Pinch, her heart sinking with each word. "Are you f*****g kidding me?" she exclaimed, the words laced with frustration and disbelief. She read the message again, hoping for a different outcome, but the harsh reality remained. Pinch: You're fired, sorry. The weight of those words crashed upon her like an avalanche, her breath catching in her throat. Tears welled in her eyes, threatening to spill over as she struggled to comprehend the depth of her failure. The job that had offered a glimmer of hope and financial stability had been ripped away, leaving her adrift in a sea of uncertainty. In that moment, Kelsey felt the weight of her insecurities pressing down upon her. Did she get fired because Lucas found her unattractive, unworthy of his attention? Had her reckless desires tarnished her professional image beyond repair? Doubt gnawed at her, undermining her self-worth and leaving her feeling utterly lost. As she stood in her kitchen, her world crumbling around her, Kelsey couldn't help but wonder if her fleeting encounter with Lucas had cost her more than just a night of passion. It seemed that her impulsive choices had shattered the fragile balance she had worked so hard to attain, leaving her feeling more vulnerable and alone than ever before. Kelsey's heart sank as her phone pierced the air with its insistent ringing. Glancing at the caller ID, she let out an exasperated groan - it was her mother. Just what she needed in that moment, she thought sarcastically. Summoning her best attempt at normalcy, Kelsey answered the call, trying to mask the turmoil beneath her voice. "Hey, Mom," she said, her tone strained. "Kelsey, what's wrong? I can tell something's bothering you," her mother's voice held genuine concern. It was as if her mother possessed an uncanny ability to detect when something was amiss, a quality that both annoyed and comforted Kelsey simultaneously. Attempting to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over, Kelsey replied, her voice trembling, "I lost my job, Mom." There was an immediate shift in her mother's tone, filled with a mixture of shock and disapproval. "What? How did you manage to lose your job? What did you do?" Frustration welled up within Kelsey as she felt the weight of her mother's judgment. "I didn't do anything wrong, Mom. They just fired me," she retorted, feeling a pang of resentment at her mother's assumption. Her mother's voice turned sharp, laced with disappointment. "Well, there must be a reason. You need to take responsibility for your actions, Kelsey." Kelsey's heart sank further, feeling the weight of her mother's disappointment bearing down upon her. She knew her mother only wanted what was best for her, but the way she spoke to her only intensified her feelings of inadequacy. "I know, Mom. But I genuinely don't understand what I could have done wrong." "Think harder, young lady. It's about time you started taking things more seriously. You can't keep making these mistakes," her mother scolded, her words cutting through Kelsey's already fragile state. Taking a shaky breath, Kelsey struggled to keep her composure, her tears threatening to spill over. She acknowledged the truth in her mother's words, yet it provided little solace in that moment. "I know, Mom. I'm sorry. I'll do better." A heavy sigh escaped her mother's lips. "I hope so, Kelsey. I really do. You can't just coast through life without consequences." The hurt in Kelsey's chest intensified, leaving her speechless. She nodded silently, fresh tears streaming down her face. Perhaps her mother was right. Maybe she had been fired because of what happened with Lucas, and her mother's stern words only confirmed her worst fears. Her mother's voice softened, attempting to offer reassurance. "Well, you'll find another job soon. Don't worry too much about it. Oh, and by the way, I got you new curtains for your room. The ones you have are looking a bit dated," her mother playfully joked, effortlessly shifting the conversation away from Kelsey's troubles. A genuine laugh escaped Kelsey's lips, the tension in her body finally starting to ease. "Thanks, Mom. You always know how to make me feel better." ***** As the night grew closer to midnight, Kelsey sunk into a hot, soapy bath and closed her eyes. The air was infused with a soothing lavender scent from her bath bomb that enveloped her senses, calming her troubled mind. The soft glow of candlelight danced across the walls, casting an enchanting glow. As she sank deeper into the bath, the warm water embraced her, washing away the weight of her worries and failures. It was as if the gentle caress of the water was erasing the self-doubt and insecurities that plagued her. With each breath, she released her tension, allowing herself to be carried away by the hypnotic embrace of relaxation. Her thoughts began to take shape, flickering like scenes in a movie. Images of a future untainted by financial burdens and poor choices with men danced through her mind. But an unexpected interruption shattered the serene atmosphere. The sound of the doorbell reverberated through her mind, jolting her back to reality. She emerged from the bath, wrapping herself in a fluffy white towel, her body adorned with the glow of relaxation. To her surprise, it was Lucas standing at her doorstep. The moment froze as she took in his presence, his rugged charm heightened by the seriousness etched upon his face. Kelsey's heart skipped a beat, her vulnerability surfacing as she tightened her grip on the towel, suddenly self-conscious about her appearance. "Lucas, what are you doing here?" she asked, her voice betraying a mix of curiosity and unease. His gaze met hers, searching for understanding. "I came to talk to you," he replied, his voice laced with a blend of urgency and sincerity. "Can I come in?" Kelsey hesitated for a moment, her mind swirling with conflicting emotions. Kelsey hesitated for a moment before nodding and stepping back to let him in. She allowed him to enter, guiding him into her open-plan living room. She stood before Lucas, her eyes meeting his, their unspoken emotions suspended in the air. The weight of their shared past hung heavily between them, interwoven with a longing for resolution and understanding. Lucas took a deep breath, his words carrying the weight of regret. "I'm sorry about what happened last night," he confessed, his gaze filled with sincerity. "I shouldn't have asked you to leave like that. Something urgent came up." A maelstrom of emotions surged within Kelsey's mind, torn between accepting his apology and protecting herself from further pain. She appreciated his remorse, but she also knew that the trust they once shared had been fractured, leaving her unsure of her own desires and intentions. "I appreciate your apology," she finally spoke, her voice a delicate whisper. "But I think it's best if you leave now." Lucas's eyebrows shot up in surprise, his guarded expression morphing into confusion. He had anticipated a different response, one that offered a chance for redemption and forgiveness. The unexpected rejection shook him to his core. "You heard me," Kelsey's voice trembled, a flicker of anger lacing her words. "There's the door. See yourself out." Lucas was dumbfounded and couldn't believe what he was hearing. No one bad ever spoken back to him with defiance. His sense of control slipping away, Lucas was compelled to follow her as she walked away, unwilling to let their unresolved issues fester. Desperation tinged his voice as he called out to her, pleading for a chance to explain, to heal the wounds between them. "Kelsey, please! Just hear me out," he implored, his voice brimming with a mix of desperation and annoyance, struggling to regain the upper hand. But Kelsey's embarrassment had been replaced with a fiery anger. Kelsey finally stopped and turned to face him, her anger boiling over and before she could stop herself, felt her hand make contact with his face. The slap echoed through the hallway and it was followed by a deafening silence. Before Kelsey could react she felt his strong hand capture her neck and she thrown against the wall. Lucas was raging, his eyes ablaze with fury. He lowered his head to her ear, his voice dipped low, "Do you have any f*****g idea who you're playing with? When I apologize, you f*****g listen!" But Kelsey didn't cave, instead she met his gaze and whispered, "Is that so? What if I don't want to?" Lucas smirked, loosening the grip around her neck and ran his hand up into hair. He slowly dragged his thumb along her jawline then across her bottom lip and he moved closer, trapping her between his body and the wall. "You've got a smart mouth. All day I thought of it, specially what it can do." he whispered, his breathing hot and heavy against her face. Kelsey tipped her head back as Lucas captured her lips with his. The kiss was hot and hungry, both fighting for domination as their tongues collided. As they found their rhythm, Kelsey's hands wandered over Lucas's body as he pulled her closer to him, his fingers dug into her waist, as if he was worried she'd disappear. Their tongues entwined as they explored each other's mouths. The heat between them was palpable as they kissed with increasing intensity. As they broke the kiss, Kelsey found herself breathless and looking into Lucas's intense gaze. His fingers traced the outline of her lips before trailing down to her neck and collarbone. His touch was electric, sending shivers down her spine. She felt her towel slipping down, exposing more of her bare skin to his hungry eyes. He slowly began kissing her neck, trailing kisses down to her collarbone and then further down to her breasts. His hands gently caressed her thighs, feeling her naked skin against his fingertips. Kelseys skins burned at his touch, she couldn't get enough of him, she want his hands and tongue all over her body. He gripped her thigh and wrapped her leg around his waist as he kissed her, going lower and lower. Kelsey pulled at his t-shirt, lifting it over his head and grabbed his hair, pulling him closer as he kissed her stomach. She still had her towel wrapped around her breasts but there was barely anything left to Lucas's imagination as he kneeled before her, her thigh now resting on his shoulder as he kissed his way from her knee to her core. "You're magnificent Kelsey." He breathed, "You're like my personal drug. I want every part of you." He itched closer and closer, slowly driving her insane waiting in anticipation, "Then have all of me." She groaned and arched her hips forward, meeting Lucas's hungry mouth. He captured her bud, sucking on it like it was his last meal. Kelsey tipped her head back and moaned as she pulled on his hair. The feel of his tongue on her p***y was enough to drive her to the edge and when he inserted two fingers in her, she was lost. Her climax hit her like a wave, his fingers thrusting deep inside as she rode his face. Waves of pleasure ran through her body as Lucas f****d her with his fingers. He moved his tongue to her thigh, sucking and biting at her smooth skin. "Kelsey, look at me." He said, his voice hoarse with desire. But Kelsey couldn't even remember her name so Lucas stopped and pulled his fingers out from her p***y. Kelseys head snapped at him, confused and missing his touch already. He slowly put his fingers in his mouth and sucked all her juices. "You taste devine." he said slowly. "Kelsey, I want to f**k you." Kelsey nodded without giving it a thought but Lucas continued, "But I can't see you after tonight. This has to end here." Kelsey's brows arched in confusion, "Why?" she asked suddenly feeling foolish again. "It's complicated but it's for your own safety. Please believe me, I just want you to be safe. You know I'm dangerous, Kelsey. You're a smart girl." Kelsey looked away as her guilt surfaced. She had suspected that he was dangerous but to hear it coming from him only made her heart break. "So, you just disappear and I don't see you again?" she questioned, her heart breaking as she realized their fate. Lucas nodded and slowly got to his feet. "What if I want more." she whispered, stearing into his green eyes. But Lucas shook his head, "We only have tonight." he lightly kissed her jaw. Kelsey closed her eyes, as he peppered kisses across her face, lightly kissing her cheeks, eyelids, forehead and the tip of her nose. "Can I f**k you Kelsey?" he breathed against her mouth, his voice heavy with desire. Kelsey parted her lips and kissed him tenderly. They looked at each other briefly and smiled, as Kelsey pulled Lucas in for another passionate kiss. Lucas's hands moved up her bare back and cupped her neck, deepening the kiss even further. Her towel started to slip off her as she wrapped her arms around Lucas's neck, pulling him in even closer. Their breathing grew ragged as Lucas lifted Kelsey up, she wrapped her legs around his waist and he carried her to the bedroom. Kelsey wanted him, her body burned for him. If they didn't have tomorrow, then she was going to make the most out of today.
