I was waiting at the cafe where I was supposed to meet my date. They already did the setup and have the location secured and setup with cameras. Thankfully they used those cameras were no actual cameraman was on site. Though some of the crew were outside, which I think were mostly just there to keep the place secure and keep the distraction to a minimum and make this blind date as real as possible.
I mean, they didn’t tell me who it will be, so yeah, what gives that I am nervous, right? Yeah, that would really be helpful, to keep me in the dark. Now, I need my hands to keep from fidgeting. Hopefully before my date arrives.
At least they did gave me a few leverage that if this first date is a disaster, we can just scrap this whole thing. Glad, they were amenable to that.
The cafe was on a ridge nearby the capital and it was a Monday, and it was supposed to be close, since the place is more like a weekend or a holiday getaway and the local tourists would be very minimal. I take a look at the lake and mountains to calm myself. Pretty romantic, with the sun almost setting, orange and yellow coloring the sky. The breeze slightly getting cooler.
Then I hear the chime announcing the presence of my date. I glance on my left where the door is located. I could barely make out his appearance from where he is. Then he walked towards me, and I can’t help but notice his demeanor. He seems very confident in his skin. And why not, as he came nearer and his obscurity due to lighting decreases, he looks lean with muscles on the right places. Not overly muscly, he is wearing a white shirt over his dark blue ripped jeans that hugs his thighs. Then a meter away and I can see his face. He must be a little older than me. He gave me a timid smile. He must be as uncomfortable as I am. At least I wasn’t the only one.
“Hi!, I am supposed to be your date. I’m James.”
I stood up and not sure what to do. Do I extend a hand? Too formal for a date, but it isn’t exactly a date. I mean it is but it isn’t. A hug seems too intimate for someone I barely knew. So I opted to use my arms to ask him to sit.
“Nice to meet you James.”
