I arrived at the clinic but nobody was manning the front desk. If I remembered correctly, it was Jordan’s turn to take care of the appointments and all that, but she only did her tasks when our bosses were watching. An infuriating quality but there wasn’t anything we could do about that.
A little quiver by the vase caught my attention and I chuckled. “Hey, Hatty,” I said loudly before I got ambushed.
The sphinx meowed disappointedly as she jumped up on the front desk, making sure to kick a pen off.
“You’re so evil,” I teased the sphinx, scratching her between her ears. She flicked her tail happily back and forth, tickling me with it. As fun and tempting as it looked, I knew better to dare and touch it. With a last tickle under her chin, I continued on.
