Chapter One

1066 Words
Aaliyah's POV I stood frozen to the floor, my fingers shaking as I clenched the letter in my hand tightly. I had read the words over and over again till my eyes were clouded with tears and I couldn't see any more, but it was clearly stated there; I had been Sold to Alpha Orion. I glanced to my Stepmother, Adrienne and my step sister, Estella, searching for any signs they were joking and that this was all just a cruel prank to scare me, but their expressions confirmed the harsh truth that lay before me. The reality of my fate sealed on the contract papers with ink. “It states in the contract that Estella is the one contracted as his wife. Not me.” I whispered, a strangled voice I couldn't even recognize leaving my lips. “And did you for once think that I would let my own daughter get married off to that cursed Alpha who's currently at the brink of death? Besides, Estella is already well sought after by Alpha Liam from Night Moon’s pack. You will go in her place, Aaliyah. You don't have a choice in this.” I shook my head, more tears rolling down my eyes now as I realized that my life has already been ochestrated without my consent. “What is it about me you hate so much,” I throw down the paper, my eyes burning with rage and anger to match the anger and hate in their eyes as they glared at me. “I've done everything… EVERYTHING to make you happy, to make you proud, to make you see me as you see Estella. But no. You'll always see me as an outcast. You've never ever loved me despite I've begged to be loved. And now, you're choosing my fate for me. Why? Why? Why? What have I done to you?” “So you know what you are right? An outcast. That's what you've been and that's how you'll be treated. Look at yourself, Aaliyah. You don't deserve the good things of life when you bring nothing but bad luck to people around you.” Estella giggled at her mother's words before she said. “She and the cursed Alpha would make a perfect match for sure.” My heart ached learning of Alpha Orion's state and how he had been involved in a an accident, a cursed fate that had left him bedridden to the point of death, but it sank when It dawned on me that due to the fear of the Alpha passing on without an heir, they needed someone who woukd bear his child. His legacy and generation couldn't just end like that. Crescent Moon’s pack was a large pack ruled by the most prestigious and powerful leaders of all times. Someone had to take over from him. Someone had to bear his heir. Someone like me. Tears welled up in my eyes as I recalled the years of mistreatment at the hands of Adrienne and Estella. Ever since my mother's passing, I had become an outcast in my own home. My father's remarriage only exacerbated the cruelty I endured. My dark marble skin, a unique feature I had acquired from my mother before passing became a constant source of condemnation and I hated myself over the passing years. In my heart then, I clung to the hope of life after 21 when I would be old enough to find my mate who would whisk me away from the hands of my evil step family and shower me with the love I deserve. But alas, that dream had shattered into shards of mere broken promises. I had already resolved to face my new reality after I had packed the few things I had when they informed me I was going to be picked up by his men. Upon arriving outside, I noticed a car outside, probably awaiting my arrival as the man and woman who stood in front of the vehicle turned to me. Their eyes bore look of contempt, disapproval and disgust but I bore it and headed towards them, already used to getting such looks from people. As I approached the car, my heart pounded in my chest, a mix of fear and defiance coursing through my veins. I held my head high, refusing to let them see how shattered I truly felt. The car door swung open and before I could get in, the woman remarked, “You're a strange one, aren't you?” I swallowed, feeling her eyes judging me. It looked like she felt sick just at the sight of me. She grabbed my arm roughly and took a menacing glance at my body before letting the hand drop at my sides painfully. “We currently don't have the luxury to waste time so you'll do. I paid alot for this considering most people are reluctant to bear an heir for a dying mate but you don't have a choice in this anymore.” Even If I wanted to speak, I couldn't because my throat was clogged as I held back my tears as hard as I could. I didn't want them to see me cry, not when my step family was standing at the side lines, barely having said a word of farewell to me. “Get in immediately,” Her voice was dripping with hate and malice as she glared at me. “You will give my son an heir before he succumbs to his cursed fate. You are nothing more than a breeding machine, Aaliyah. Remember that.” My heart tightened at her hateful words but I nodded, my voice caught in my throat, unable to form a coherent responseI calmly sat inside before letting the tears slowly flow down my cheeks. The car began driving out of the compound and I saw satisfied malicious looks on my step mother and sister's faces as they watched the car drive away till we were out of sight. I was now a pawn in a ruthless game, a mere blood vessel to carry the hair of a dying Alpha. The weight of this new role pressed down upon me as I realized I wasn't Alpha Orion's wife. It was just stated there in the contract. In reality, all I am and ever will be is his s*x slave, a mere breeder.
