"It"s a good road?" Ivram asked.
"We call it the path of springs. The priests forbid us to speak about the path of springs, but rumors say it was begun by your World Whisperer." Amon looked at Ivram with raw emotion in his eyes. He seemed vulnerable, afraid of being disappointed. He had the look of a man—Ivram knew this because he had felt it in his own body—who needs to believe something and is reluctant to share, afraid he might be told he is wrong.
Ivram smiled, moved by this young man"s courage. "I have heard of this path," he said, "and I think the rumors you"ve heard are true. Our World Whisperer made it with the help of the Shaper. I am happy to follow it with you.
