The celebrations of the sea people lasted for days. Laylit was worn out long before the others were, even the elders of the village. They danced on the beach, they cooked seafood feasts, and they spent their days weaving new hammocks and clothes, sheets and decorative hangings. "What is it about new things right now?" Laylit asked Cora one evening as they walked back to the hut. "We think that it"s nice to make new things out of good feelings. We haven"t had good feelings for a long time, so we haven"t made many new things."
