Back in her room, Agnes put on her coat and after making sure she had put all her jewellery safely in the bottom of her large handbag she left the room and headed for the lift.
There were already a group of people in the lift when she stepped inside. Thankfully David Drummond wasn"t one of them. No one said a word while the lift was in motion, but when they reached the ground floor she did hear one of the women passengers tell her friend that she was wearing all her jewellery today.
“What, all of it?” the friend, gasped.
“There was no way I was going to leave anything in my room while I was out.”
