The sun was shining brightly through the window when Agnes awoke the next morning. How lucky she had been with the weather so far. It could be rather cold and damp in October. However, it seemed summer was reluctant to step back and make way for autumn this year. She lay for a few minutes, reflecting on the evening before. Alan had insisted on escorting her up to her room. It had been rather late when they got back to the hotel and he had suggested that the lift attendant might have gone off duty. She hadn"t argued with him.
