A few minutes later, the door to the tower burst open and DCI Johnson was the first to appear. He was quickly followed by his sergeant and several armed officers.
Alan was relieved to see Agnes standing there alive and well. Having heard a gunshot as he was approaching the tower, he had feared the worst. He had been worried when he received the call telling him there was someone in the tower who was threatening to kill a woman. No one knew who the people were, but he knew they had to be Agnes and Drummond. His concern had changed to anger, as they drove along the quayside to the tower. What the hell was she doing there? Hadn"t he warned her about going anywhere near Drummond? Did the woman ever listen to anyone?
