On the drive to Elderon, John made it a point to keep up a running commentary on the scenery, the other drivers, and anything else that would take Kip’s mind off what would happen when they got there. At one point, Kip said, “I know what you’re doing.” “Pointing out the joys of mountain driving?” John replied innocently. Kip snorted. “That, too.
