This is a God-forsaken land.” The older minister scanned the landscape. The pasture was a rolling patchwork of brown-green in October with flowers in bloom along the slopes of olive and carob trees. “Yes, I know. I’ll be all right.” “Whenever I’m feeling down or sad, I go to the bible for inspiration and guidance. I call it my preacher comforts. The bible is a wondrous thing, Randy, a gift from God.” Reverend Beam took from his back pocket his King James Bible. “I never leave home without it.”
