Chapter 13: Not The Way I Expected It

1254 Words

Eloise POV The night had dragged on, leaving nothing but shadows, the fading echoes of laughter, and a dull ache in my chest. All around me, the aftermath of the party was evident—men leaning too heavily on their companions, women gripping their partners like lifelines, and the unsettling sight of drunken gazes meeting across the room. I felt like an intruder, a ghost witnessing these raw, unguarded moments that left no room for anything else. Sadness took root within me as I wondered if I truly belonged here. Tyrone was saying his farewells, and I stood beside him, merely an accessory, a silent smile fixed on my face like it had always been that way. For a few brief hours, it had felt like we were truly together, like we had shared a love that could outshine the brightest of stars.
