Chapter 4 Marriage

1095 Words
"Miss Emerson, do you know what you're doing?" Killian pushed her away, his Adam's apple bobbing unconsciously. "I'm making you responsible, Mr. Ford! I feel terrible..." Sheila's eyes were glazed, her face flushed, making it easy to guess what had happened. Besides, Killian knew those dirty tricks of the social scene all too well. He rebuked coldly, "I'll give you two seconds to get out..." Sheila's red lips pressed against his Adam's apple. The fragrant, soft lips, and the even softer touch against his chest. Killian stared at her, his body stiffening, his mind blank. He didn't react until her palm slipped under his shirt, when he grabbed it. "Do you know who I am?" "Lu... Ruthless." "..." The next second, Sheila broke free from his restraint and continued, recklessly tearing at his shirt, breathing rapidly and hotly as she set fires all over his body. The car was filled with a mixture of intimacy and danger. Killian stared intently for three seconds before taking the lead and kissing her deeply. The partition slowly rose, and the car drove to a deserted stretch of road and stopped. Jerry got out in a hurry. Having been Killian's driver and bodyguard for six years, this was the first time he had encountered such a situation. He vaguely remembered the last beautiful woman who had offered herself in the boss's car – he had simply thrown her out. He used to wonder if there was something wrong with the boss, a man so wealthy and handsome, yet with no women around him. Turns out he liked Miss Emerson's type. Why hadn't he noticed before? Sheila woke up the next day in Killian's villa. She opened her eyes, her body aching all over. The wild memories of the previous night flooded back like a tide. She... Sheila had broken up with her boyfriend of six years and then slept with her boss, Killian. It must be a dream. But the marks on her body, and the unfamiliar surroundings, all proved that the memories in her mind were not a dream. For a moment, Sheila was filled with panic. They were all adults. If she had slept with someone else in that situation last night, she could have treated it like a drunken hookup after a breakup. But the person she slept with was the president of the Ford Group the Ford Group, her own direct boss, Killian. Even though Eric had set her up, Killian might suspect her of deliberately trying to sleep her way up. This job was her last remaining source of security and a way out. Men could come and go, but offending Killian could mean losing her job at best, and being blacklisted in the industry at worst. Tears welled up in Sheila's eyes. She really didn't know what to do. She wrapped the thin blanket around herself and got up to look for clothes, but couldn't find anything. Just then, the bathroom door suddenly opened, and Killian emerged, impeccably dressed. He looked as aloof and restrained as he always did at the office, making it impossible to connect him with the man who had been so passionate with her in the car last night. Sheila awkwardly tightened the blanket, which was threatening to slip. "Lu... Mr. Ford." Killian glanced at her briefly, expressionless. "Your clothes are being washed by the maid. She'll bring them up to you after they're dried." "Oh." Sheila felt incredibly awkward. Fortunately, Killian didn't say anything else and left the bedroom. Sheila had never been to Killian's home before. The detached villa in the city revealed the owner's high taste and extravagance in every detail. After going downstairs, Sheila sat opposite Killian, trying to appear calm, but her heart was filled with anxiety. She didn't know how Killian would deal with her. "I'm sorry, Mr. Ford. There was something wrong with the wine last night, which is why I acted that way." "Can we pretend that nothing happened?" "I really need this job." Logically, both parties were responsible for what had happened. But with Killian's top-tier looks and figure, coupled with his billions of dollars, countless wealthy daughters and top actresses would jump at the chance to sleep with him. As his subordinate, she knew this all too well. He would never take advantage of someone. So, Sheila subconsciously believed that she had defiled him. As Sheila said all this with trepidation, Killian remained expressionless, simply staring at her. His deep, unfathomable black eyes were incredibly sharp, as if they could pierce her soul. The seconds of silence made her palms sweat. Finally, Killian spoke, ordering, "Break up with Kane and sign the agreement on the table." Sheila was stunned. He knew her boyfriend was called Kane? No, ex-boyfriend. Sheila quickly realized that Kane wasn't poor either. Being a member of the same high society circle, Killian probably knew Kane, and might have even known that she had been played. Besides, Killian was extremely busy, why would he care about her personal affairs? Was he worried that Kane would find out about what happened between them and cause trouble? She asked suspiciously, "Why?" "I don't have a penchant for being a third party. Marry me through the agreement, for a term of three years." "Marry?" Sheila was still caught up in the fear of losing her job when she was suddenly hit with a nonsensical sentence. She first suspected that she had misheard, then confirmed that she wasn't hallucinating and tugged at her stiffened mouth in disbelief. "Mr. Ford, are you talking about me?" Killian: "Is there anyone else here?" Sheila was dumbfounded. It took her several seconds to recover and start thinking about Killian's intentions. Was it possible that he had been secretly in love with her all along? The more Sheila thought about it, the more fantastical it seemed. She immediately dismissed the above guess. She had been working at the Ford Group for over a year. If he really wanted to sleep with her, would he have waited until now? After thinking it over, she still felt that Killian probably suspected her of trying to climb the social ladder yesterday and was throwing out bait to test her. So, she quickly pledged her loyalty: "Mr. Ford, yesterday was just an accident. I will completely forget about it and never tell anyone." "From now on, I will be a work machine, creating value for you." Killian stared at her for a moment with an inscrutable expression, before saying in an irresistible tone: "You don't have a second choice."
