Chapter 2 - Get me a new bride
Her eyes narrowed into a slit seeing the message written on her screen.
It was a reminder for a class reunion happening that evening.
She yawned and dropped the phone to focus on the task in front of her.

"Yes, perfect!" he complimented.
He sat down and sighed in satisfaction, everything looked perfect like a married home but one thing was left.
A bride.
He dialed Timothy's number but it didn't pull through. He rubbed his head in frustration.
What if they don't find a bride in time?
As he was thinking his phone beeped, he glanced at it, it was a message from the lawyer who was to prepare the contract for the bride.
He dropped the phone aside and got up, he needed to calm himself down.
He took a glass and poured some wine while sipping it.
"President, a bride has been found" his bodyguard related the news to him.
Alex dropped the glass and nodded, "Tell Timothy to prepare the wedding for 10 am tomorrow" he ordered and strolled to his room.
He needed to prepare himself for his new life.

Uriel News House
Emily was finally done, she grabbed the files and walked to Mrs Jamieson’s office.
She was about to knock when she heard voices from inside, "We need to get our hands on this story." A deep masculine voice could be heard.
Emily's curiosity was immediately sparked, she hid behind the walls and paid closer attention to the voices.
"Estella was so close to getting that information before she passed away" A soft feminine voice could also be heard.
"Why do you think I employed Emily? That girl has no skills whatsoever but she is Estella's blood so she must have connections to the information" Mrs Jameson's voice rang.
Emily felt her heart drop, she bit her lower lip but tried to compose herself.
"These human traffickers have been on the go for almost two decades, yet no one has any information about them. If we could just get this news about them, we could restore our company's glory" The male voice sounded.
Emily knew she had heard enough, she stood straight knocked on the door, and entered.
She looked around and noticed there were four persons, two females and two males.
"Ma'am you asked for the re-written papers," Emily said handing them over to her.
Mrs Jameson snatched it from her and without saying anything, sat in her chair and began going through it.
"Good" she muttered and kept the file aside.
Emily turned and left.
She could hear their whispers but she had no courage to face their fierce, ugly eyes.
Getting to her corner, she sank into her chair trying to catch her breath.
She recalled how her mother had died, it was a sudden but painful incident.
She could still remember clearly the chapped blue lips stained with blood, the lean structure of her body, the soulful eyes pleading for mercy.
She wanted to live longer but life didn’t give her that option or maybe, someone didn’t.
She glanced at the clock, it was finally time to close for the week. Her lips curved upwards as she imagined a beautiful weekend away from this hell of a place.
Emily packed her things as quickly as she could and walked out of the office. She needed to get a dress for her reunion that evening.
She entered the closest boutique and began searching for a dress.
Her eyes turned to the TV, she was about to look away when the picture of a man was shown.
She looked at him and her heart jumped, a warm smile spread through her lips as she stared at the well-dressed man who held the award so casually as though it was a meaningless piece of toy.
"Mr Sterling is so amazing" a girl squealed at the corner.
"I know right? To think that in just 10 years, he was able to take Sterling empire from almost hitting rock bottom to where it is now"
"All that is left now, is for him to pick a bride" an older lady commented and most girls immediately started jumping.
Emily sighed at the confusion one man could cause, she glanced at the man who always had a scowl on his face.
She shook her head and grabbed a dress immediately, paying for it and leaving the boutique.
Her head was filled with thoughts and she wondered if she would ever find love in her messed-up world.
...
Sterling Hotel
Emily entered the bubbly room and the smell of alcohol made her stomach grumble.
"Mily!" a girl squealed, waving her hands from afar.
Emily faked a smile seeing her, she hadn't spent up to 5 minutes but she was already regretting her decision.
"I should have just stayed home watching movies" she muttered as she approached the table and sat down.
"Our very own news star" the girl commented and everyone burst into laughter.
Emily knew she wasn't praising her but was mocking her.
Emily had always dreamed of being a top journalist like her mother and after her mother's death, her classmates would make fun of her.
She felt disgusted and stood up.
"Excuse me" she muttered humbly and left the room.
She entered the restroom and sighed, staring at her face in the mirror.
"I shouldn't have come here," she whispered to herself.
She raised her face and arranged her head, and she decided to leave.
Her heart felt light as she opened the door, she looked both ways and noticed some suspicious men in black.
'Oh no'
Her brows furrowed and she tried to sneak out of the hotel. Her heart jumped with each step she took, fear gripped her.
She finally hailed a cab and her body calmed down but she felt her anxiety building up.
'I need protection'

State Marriage Registry
Alex tapped his feet rhythmically and glanced at his watch.
He waved his hands at Timothy who was already sweating.
"Where is the bride?" he questioned, getting irritated.
He had a lot to do with his time and his supposed bride wasn't there.
"She would be here soon," Timothy assured but Alex scoffed.
"Get me a new bride, immediately!" he commanded authoritatively.
Timothy was about to rush out when a young lady rushed in.
Her chest rose and dropped heavily, her body seemed to be covered in sweat.
"So sorry I am late" she apologized and continued panting.
