Chapter 30
Betty rushed through the door of the office, her eyes puffy and red, and dropped her purse onto her chair. She rolled into the tiny bathroom and closed the door. As she gripped the sink, she stared at herself in the mirror. What have I done?
She splashed water on her face to cool herself down and thought that maybe she should just go home. Coming to the office meant having to answer questions and she needed time to think, to come up with a plan. She set her jaw, pushed her shoulders back, and fled out the bathroom door.
"Whoa! Slow down, there," said Taylour as she rounded the corner at the same time. Betty pulled up, startled, and apologized for almost knocking Taylour down.
Seeing Betty's quivering chin, Taylour asked, "Is everything OK, Betty?"
