Chapter 34: Mirrors I hug the mirrored wall and hold my breath. My feet whisper against thick carpet as I peek around the corner. This is usually when Cadence chimes in, but she seems to be punishing me with disapproving silence. I’ll have to find some way to make up with her later. This is what we do, after all: fight, reconcile, and fight again. And, if I’m about to be caught and sacrificed to the nightmares, I’d rather she weren’t around to see it anyway. I expect to find Ange in the mayor’s extravagant audience chamber, but when I reach it, all is still and silent.
