CHAPTER FOURTEEN
ELISA
Luke strides into Dr. Williams’s waiting room as Barbara steps out. The normally soothing pale green wallpaper doesn’t do anything to counter the stern expression on his face.
He’s transformed from the goofy, happy-go-lucky man I’m falling for into an image of disapproval.
He sinks to a seat beside me.
“Hi?” I say hesitantly.
He looks at me.
“Sure you want to do this?”
“Yes, Elisa. We need to. Our situation is too complex to just let things float along. Last night has shown us that.”
“What did it show us?” I demand. “We had a little miscommunication.” I glance at the reception desk. Dr. Williams’s assistant has not returned. “Which should not cast a negative light on such great s*x. Please, Luke. Don’t make this a problem.”
