Nadine’s VoyageI’d never had much to celebrate in my life. While sitting through the second night in a row of dancing, music, and feasting, I wondered if every day in America was like this. I leaned against my new girlfriend, Amelia, as we sat on a log, watching people of all kinds sing and chant by the glow of a bonfire. My ruffled skirt and sleeveless shirt were torn and bloody from another day of battle. Longhouses and cabins surrounded us, as well as other types of homes that seemed like they blended into the earth instead of tearing it up and ruining it like so many of the buildings in London.
