12. Attack on the kingdom

1353 Words
Kat's POV I threw on my fighting cloths. It consisted of a sports bra, tank top, and cargo pants. I left my shoes off as they just got in the way. I had no weapons so the first thing I did was run to the kitchen and grabbed a few knives. Then I headed out into the chaos. Most were running to the packhouse where I came from and I ran opposite of them noticing a few warriors trying their best to figure out where we were hit the hardest. I stopped, I took a deep breath gaining control and taking in my environmen. I didn't see any higher ranking wolves. I looked back at the packhouse seeing Evan and Vera. "Stay and protect the packhouse! I'm going to find Xaivier." I shouted over the noise, they knoded and began directing people sorting the ones that could fight. As I listened around me I heard more commotion from the right and headed on that direction. As I got closer to growling and shouting, the scent of blood greeted me. Some injured warriors began running. The scene in front of me slowed down. Taking a deep breath I looked around to find control over the sudden attack. Then and there I realized this was my chance. I could run from this place and not look back. I wouldn't have to worry about proving myself. I wouldn't have to show Xaivier he is wrong about me. Just then a sharp pain stabbed at my chest, so intense I started gasping for air. 'Mate.' Sage shoved into my conscious hard. Then I felt her come up behind my eyes and all the scents came in so much stronger. Sage drooled when she sented the blood and I though I was going to lose it right then. She did something different this time though and she shook it off not allowing me to shift. I took some steps forward as the pain grew and I could feel it pulling towards the town, down the once peaceful path littered with bodies. I didn't have time to think twice this time and I sprinted, knives in hand, down the path. By the time I reach the town I caught his scent. I slowed down screams were broken up in various places. It wasn't a good sign. They are tearing the pack apart. The pull in my chest and his scent brought me through the center of the town. Smoke began to get thick in the air. I barely registered that houses are burning and I ignore it set on to protect one of my own. I finally caught up with the fight a wolf launched at me and I dodged it sending it past me. It landed on its paws twisting and immideatly charging at me again. This time I mett it with kitchen knives, starting at its gut and pulling up to its throat. The blood bath began and I fought my way forward. I mowed wolves and men down until I saw the silloet of a wolf standing off five rougue wolves. As I got closer I realized the large dark brown wolf was protecting something laying on the ground. Sage roared as loud and demanding as a higher ranking Alpha and they all looked at me. I bared my teeth and unlike an Alpha I didn't wait for submission, I did not care that they might have asked for mercy. I wasn't an Alpha and they wouldn't recive my mercy. Because what is mine, is beneath the large brown wolf. They hurt him and it was hurting me. I had shifted entirely at this point. When I lept the blood bath continued. Teeth and claws tearing skin and crunching bone between my jaws. More came and I continued. The more I killed, the more I lost myself. Sage took over now protecting her mate with everything she is. Hours went by and as I came back to myself I realized I had gone to our pond. I could scent only my mates here though. It was quiet now and tranquil. The brown wolf I had rescued came into my view. My bright blue eyes mett his golden honey and my Wolf conscious subsided enough for me to remember what was happening and I shifted quickly not caring about my nudity. "Where is he?" I asked the brown wolf. He whined in response. I didn't feel the stabbing pain anymore and I began to worry. The brown wolf yipped, turning for me to follow him. He led me to a house white yet some lanterns with candles glowed as darkness had come over. Fog rolled in making an earie glow around the lanterns. He nodded at the door and I opened it greeted with abrupt shuffling as everyone inside stood. They are in the gorgeous living room all our Mates except.. the Beta. I turned to look at him just as he shifted. He was the one who had a front row seat to everything I was designed for. "Here I'll get you a robe." Rose said wiping away tears from her red eyes. "Where is he?" my voice is raspy and deep. It's always hard to speak after she takes over like that. "Upstairs in his bed. The doctor is with him now." Amber spoke first. Then a scream sounded from upstairs. It made my Wolf pull again. A hand on my shoulder stopped me and I withheld the growel that tried to escape and I mett the golden eyes of Aiden. "They have to rebreak the bones that started to heal wrong." His voice is also gravely. I knoded and Rose came running down tossing me the robe as she lept into Aidens arms. He kissed her head holding her to him. I turned away and more screams sounded. I sat in a vacant chair that smelled like Xaivier and certainly smelled like him the most. "How did you do that?" Amber broke the silence. "Do what?" I said with very little care in my voice. "Do what?! You slautered dozens of wolves! At the same time the pack was able to gain composure!" Well what she said sure was interesting. I just shrugged. "What happened after I ran off?" I asked Aiden who now sat with Rose in his lap. "Well.." he looked hesitant to answer. "You just went to the next that wasn't pack. Once Xaivier was carried off by Josh I followed your scent to the woods." I knoded and brought my knees up in the chair. More screams echoed through the house. Rose whined and snuggled further into Aiden. I got up tired of sitting there listening to the Alpha. Aiden went to follow me and I stopped him. "I'm always in control. I won't hurt anyone I know they are helping but I'm not sitting here tourchering myself." Not that I knew what to do. Romance or calming someone just isn't something I've wanted to do. I slowly walked up to just outside the wooden door. I walked in and saw Xaivier with the doctors. He lay on the bed sweat on his brow and looking extremely pale. His eyes mett mine. I knew I looked rough still with dirt and blood still on my skin. "Go baby girl." he said with little strength, "I don't want you here for this." I shook my head, "I can't sit down there listening." I pleaded him with my eyes. "I'll stay out of the way." I lowered my head in submission something I wasn't used to. He sighed, he lifted the one arm that looked painful but gestured for me to take his hand and I did just that. "Allright I have about thirty more breaks to go, don't rip me apart too." I suddenly realized alot of the pack probably knew what happened. I grinned at him, "I'm in control. I know your helping him. I won't kill you." I felt Xaivier grip my hand tighter just before the crunching of bone and Xaivier attempting to hold back his screams began.
