I stood frozen on the spot, looking at them trying to figure out how to respond without letting my Wolf rip the girl on his lap to shreds.
'Poly mateship Sage. If you want him you are going to have to deal with it.' I scolded her.
The Alpha saw me frozen in place having my internal struggle.
The girl seemed to realize that she no longer had his affectionate gaze on her and turned towards me still sitting on his lap.
The battle to not kill her continued to get harder as she turned back wrapping her arms around his neck and started to trail kisses from his cheek down to his neck. He continued to watch me as his eyes darkened and he pulled her to his groin more.
I couldn't hold on anymore. My face had turned so red with anger at this point. I needed to use my failsafe. My Wolf became leathally silent ready to pounce yet the couple didn't seem to notice.
I suddenly became very thankful that the others were with me.
"Evan." I nearly growled. He knew immediately what to do.
He grabbed my arm as I leapt forward eyes on the girl now.
I pulled put of his first grip.
"Vera grab her." They were both now fighting to hold me back. The King snapped out of it and pushed the girl off his lap. My eyes still locked on her as he approached.
My ears were defend but I could faintly hear my snarls. Evan and Vera struggled to hold me. I was about to throw them off and go for the girl who is now standing back with a smirk on her face, when my veiw of her was blocked.
I looked up into the kings eyes as he stood in front of me.
Again I felt his hand wrap around my throat.
"That's enough." He ordered. Sage snarled at him. My lack of control on her was unsettling.
"I said that enough." This time he used his Alpha voice. My eyes went to the floor on pure impulse.
"That is Amber. She is Josh's primary mate. They are a part of the mateship." he explained vaguely.
I took a deep breath, wich didnt help much because all I could smell is him. I started scolding Sage. I still wasn't sure how to feel.
"I'm hungry. I came down to eat." I shook myself regaining my composure. I walked passed him ignoring them alltogether.
I started going through the cabinets. The others came in behind me quietly.
"I need to go to work. I'll see you both later." With that the King walked out.
Amber sat herself at the table, while we began cooking.
"So you're the newbie." The girl just had to open her mouth.
I didn't answer her.
"Xaivier and I have just started spending time together. You are going to have to wait you're turn."
I realize then this girl is a Delta. She is no match for me. Oddly enough this settled Sage and I.
I didn't respond to her. Knowing it was best to just ignore her. I was right of course and she left after a moment of silence while we got our food.
"What is her problem?" Minnie asked as I sat down waiting for them.
"She is a Delta. She feels threatened by me." I told her.
Minnie sat across from me looking confused. It made sense she was born rogue. Ranking wasn't as important as survival.
"What's a Delta?" she questioned.
"A Delta is a rank. Deltas have this habit of trying to "out do" Everyone else just for a sliver of the Alpha's attention. Alpha's are typically aware of this but turn a blind eye, wanting everyone in the pack to feel cared for." I began to eat when the others sat down.
"What's my rank?" She asked innocently. I wasn't overly happy to be in this position of teaching her but... someone had to.
"Ok, Ranking from top to bottom goes like this. Alpha, Beta, Omega, Delta, and Gamma. Everyone has a job. There is only one Beta and one Alpha. Omegas are warriors usually sometimes a Delta will make warrior status, but anyway you are a Gamma." Wow I'm terrible at this. I thought to myself.
"Dude. WTF kind of explanation was that?" Evan said flabbergasted. I gave him a look and gesture that said 'what more do you want from me?' He shook is head.
"Is being a Gamma a bad thing?" Minnie asked timidly.
We all gave a chorus of disapproval.
"Gammas are like the base of the pack holding everyone together." Vera told her.
Minnie let out a sigh of relief.
"Do you all know your ranks?" she continued. I didn't look at her and tried to keep the attention off me.
"I'm a beta usually. I might be made an omega here though." I didn't miss how Evan seemed to accept that we would be here for a long while.
"I'm an omega Warrior. I cant wait to show thoes guys what I got either." Vera made some muscle jestures causing some giggles from the other two.
Then I felt Minnie looking at me.
"You must be an Alpha." She would think that wouldn't she.
"No I'm not an Alpha." I stood from the table bringing my plate to the sink. "Eat up and clean up I'm going to check this place out." The seemed to know not to bring up the scene that had occurred to wich I was Thankful.
I went outside to wander the yard thinking about how to tell anyone what I am. I mean Evan and Vera know but I think they were leaving it to me to say anything. It made for an uncomfortable topic.
'I think they will accept you.' Sage butt in.
'No Sage. The some thing will happen that usually happens. People will tiptoe around me automatically assuming I don't have any feelings, thoughts , or opinions. That I'm just here to be left alone and deal with my own problems. We will be rejected and tossed out.' I let numbness continue to roll over my emotions. I'd rather not feel anything than worry about the amount of silent pain that is sure to come.
Sage grew quiet as well deciding not to argue much about it.
I started walking in a direction no knowing where I am going and caring at all.
