UNSELFISH LOVE

Sometimes, in this little thing called life, we can’t have it all. Sometimes, life isn’t fair for everybody. Sometimes, our life choices may or may not have a big impact on our future. Sometimes, in order for us to start again, we need to let go of everything behind, even if it means feeling the pain, forever. Those are the last few sentences, Beige writes in her newly published book. It was about her learning from her own experience. It was about her heart that once loved someone so much. Upon reading it, Jim couldn’t help but to shed tears. After nine months, his wife bares their child. It was a lovely little girl. The outcome of their own love story. While for Beige, she knows that he is happy now with his family. Somehow, she finds a way to smile again without feeling a little guilt. Her sister did tell her that she had talked to him. Beige felt so much relieved that, somehow, he did find a way to search for her. She was glad that finally, after many years, he already knew the truth. So, she can move on easily now, but she will always love him from far. Months had passed and Beige was back again in Jim’s town to visit some old friends. She was happier than ever. She is still the woman who dreams so high and loves so much. She was wearing a beautiful white dress. She was sitting at the bus stop feeling so glad for her life. Suddenly, a very fresh and good looking guy stood in front of her with a bouquet of tulips came around. It was Jim. “What a lovely sight!” said the old lady who happened to tease the two of them a long time ago. Ellaine knew that Beige was there in their town and, unselfish as she was, she told Jim to come to see her. She believes they both deserve to have that conversation. All these years Jim was a good husband to him, so allowing him to do so wouldn’t hurt. Beige stands up upon seeing him. She is happy to see him again after such a long time. They both shared a tight hug. Their eyes met with so much longing to be with each other again. They sit down and talk about them. Jim said to her that he already knew the reason for her leaving, that he was very happy for her that she was able to recover from her cancer, that he was still glad to be able to cross paths with her in this lifetime. “I will admit, Beige, for the longest time I was too mad at you because I wasn’t aware of the reason why you didn’t keep your promise but my love for you is too much that’s why I was able to get used to it and manage to live my life without you. I will forever cherish all those good times that we both had. I’m sorry for being so weak, I wasn’t able to wait for you.” said Jim. Beige started to cry because she couldn’t hide the pain that she was keeping to herself for such a long time. “You don’t have to say sorry, it was me who needed to apologize. I’m sorry for being so coward. I’m sorry for not keeping my promise. I’m sorry that ours didn’t go as planned. I’m sorry that our love is only written in the book, but we weren’t able to beat all the odds. When I first saw you with her, I knew to myself that I should let you go. My heart shattered into pieces seeing you with her. It is supposed to be me, Jim. But, now I have to live my life full of regrets because I can’t have you back. I love you, Jim. Live a good life with your family. I will just be here cheering for you from a far. I will just be here wishing you to find happiness within yourself and with Ellaine and your daughter.” said Beige while crying with so much tears. It’s time for her to go now. The bus stops. They give each other one last tight hug, hoping that someday somehow God will allow them to live again to love and never let go of each other. She sits as usual in her favorite spot. She smiles with tears in her eyes while she waves at him. Jim nodded his head while feeling the moment. “Thank you for the memories, Beige. Thank you for your existence. Thank you for choosing to live. Thank you for accomplishing our dreams. We may not be together now, but our love story will forever be kept in my heart. I love you, Beige.” That night ended, it was a night full of emotions.
