LOVERS FROM THE PAST

They both continue living their lives. Jim continues to work hard as a manager with his wife. Beige continues to write more inspiring stories. Every now and then, Jim always waited for her newly published works so that he could read them. Sometimes, he read it together with his wife. He loved Beige so unconditionally, but the love that he and Ellaine now have is something that he wants to have forever. A kind of love that stays. A kind of love that doesn’t leave. A kind of love that is always there for you, no matter what happens. A kind of love that sticks through thick and thin, highs and lows, ups, and downs. A kind of love that Jim and Ellaine have. He was able to appreciate his wife more. They go to movies, eat delicious meals together and simply enjoy their simple life. While Beige is just happy to see him with someone else. She knows that he is in good hands with Ellaine. She knows that Ellaine is the right one for him. She always remembers him and sometimes the pain is too unbearable. But she needs to continue living her own life as well. It was one afternoon when Jim was packing things for their trip with his wife. He suddenly saw an old paper; there he saw the poem Beige made for him a long time ago. “My love for you will never stop, as long as I am still alive. My love for you will never end, as long as you’re there. “Upon seeing it, his heart aches again. He thought that his mom was right all along, maybe she had her own reason why she wasn’t able to come back. Maybe the reason why she is back after five long years is that she wanted to see and talk to him. Maybe she did love him too. But, when she finds out that he has already married another woman, she disappears again in his life. There are so many thoughts, maybe’s and what ifs in his mind. Until his wife comes in and asks him if he is already ready to leave. For him, it would forever be a mystery. For him, it would forever be a shame why he didn’t choose to know the reason first. When they got back after that long trip, he decided to find answers to his questions. He wants closure. He wants to know what happened, why they didn’t end up with each other. He asks his wife if he will allow him. At first, Ellaine finds it so hard to say yes to him, but she doesn’t want to be with a man forever if he still has so much baggage from his past. That’s why, even though it’s difficult for her, she let him do his thing. Jim leaves their town while Ellaine is crying with so many tears in her eyes. But, she would hold Jim’s promise that he would be back for her. It was night time when he reached the place where Beige lives. He was amazed by the beauty of the city. The city lights are so cool. The buildings are so tall. The whole city is new for him to explore. He went there without having any idea where to go and how he would find her. He checks into a hotel with a big hope that his trip will be worth it. He wasn’t able to sleep yet and the old lady who happened to be one of the guests approached him. She said, What’s with that handsome face? You look so nervous. Are you here to find your first love? He was shocked upon hearing what the old lady had said. “How did you know? I’m just here to hear some answers about why she left me and never came back. “said Jim. Young man, you really love her. I hope you find her in time, uttered the old lady. The next day, after he had his breakfast, he immediately went to Beige’s workplace. It was a big and tall building. He is not sure why he is there, but one thing is certain, he wants to talk to her. He was sitting in the lobby and the receptionist approached him. He said he was waiting for someone to pass by, but later on he asks the lady if she happens to know Beige. He desperately wants to see her. The receptionist informed him that she was currently on leave and she would be back after a week. He felt so disappointed. He just felt like the universe was really making ways not to allow them to see each other again. With a heavy heart, he just continued walking down the aisle of the building and someone called him. It was Jenny. They went to a coffee shop and talked things over. He said he was there to see Beige. He wanted to know what happened, why she needed to do that. Jenny explained to him everything. She mentioned that for the longest time her sister had also suffered from the choice that she had to make. “She was about to go back before and keep her promise to you not until she finds out that she has cancer. She was too scared about her illness; she was hopeless during those times. And worse, she was not ready to see you bearing so much pain when the possibility of her dying was very high that time. But she is fine now, it’s just that she still seeks you after what happened. She came back a little too late just to find out that you had married another woman. It breaks her heart even more but she didn’t get mad at you. She knew she was away for a while without any explanation. She is sorry for what she has done. She is sorry for causing you too much pain. But, she never did manage to ruin you again after she saw you so happy with your wife. She did love you, Jim. I hope you didn’t curse her that much for all the choices and decisions she has to make. As her sister, I know she only does it out of her great love for you. Know that there was never a time in her life that she didn’t think of you. Please, let her go. “said Jenny. He was very emotional upon hearing everything. He had no idea that after all these years Beige really loved him too. It was just him who didn’t find a reason to hold on. It was just him who didn’t find a reason to wait for her. They said goodbye to each other. Jenny wishes him well. It was the loneliest day of his life after finding out everything. All the memories that they both made appeared to his mind again. He cried painfully in the middle of nowhere while the rain poured so hard. He came back to their town with the answers that he had longed to find out ever since she hadn’t returned to his life. When he arrives, his wife prepares a nice meal for the two of them with an announcement. She said to him that she was pregnant and that he was about to be a father soon. She feels so merry while Jim hugs her so tightly, sobbing so painfully. That night, in his mind and heart, he knew there was no turning back. He and Beige are now only two lovers from the past who have no chance anymore in this lifetime.
