It was a long tiring day for Jim, while his wife was busy preparing food for their dinner. He sat down on their couch and opened his phone when all of a sudden the face of his first love appeared on his screen. He was shocked to see her. She made it big time there, that’s why she didn’t look back here, he claimed. He was about to put his phone away but he clicks the link that takes him to Beige’s newly published work. It was about the man she loved so much. He reads everything and realizes that it was for him. It was all about him, after all these years. His wife called him to eat but he didn’t respond. Instead, he went outside to their house. He ran as fast as he could. He found himself standing while sobbing on the beach nearby. He was very emotional. He couldn’t believe what he saw and read. When he was about to break down, his wife was there to catch him. He hugs his wife while crying. She can’t believe what she is seeing but she knows that it’s about the woman whom he loved for a long time, but it’s also the woman who left so much void in his heart. When they reach home, Jim quickly goes to their bed. His wife Ellaine stares at him with so much love. She knows she can’t compete with that woman. She knows that Jim’s heart still breaks every time he sees her. She knows that she loves Jim so much that she won’t allow anyone to have him. It took so much strength for Beige to finally decide to go back to Jim’s place. She knew that she needed to see him. She packs her things in her luggage and finds herself at the airport five hours later. She doesn’t know what she will feel, but she’s a hundred percent sure that it’s about time. She finally arrives there. She checks into the hotel. She ate ice cream while walking in the street. She decided to visit the place she once lived. There she saw again the spots she used to have fun before, the shops she used to enter, the stores she used to eat and the bus station she used to share many unforgettable memories with someone so special. After an hour of walking and reminiscing, she reaches the restaurant where Jim works. She was about to go inside when she saw him with a woman and they were looking so sweet. She kisses him before saying goodbye to him. Beige couldn’t understand how to feel that time. She was standing there feeling a little broken. She didn’t bother to go inside. Instead, she left the place with a heavy heart. She was thinking that maybe he had finally moved on from her. “I should be happy for him; it seems that he has attained his dream also. It was me who left him first and didn’t come back. He has every right to do what he wants to do, even if it includes forgetting me,” she said. She went back to her hotel, feeling depressed. The rain suddenly pours and she just only wishes that it will wash all her pains away. That night, she only eats in the hotel where she stays. Someone from her previous job saw her. It was Shane, an old friend of hers. They dine together. Shane asked a lot of questions. They had a night full of chitchat. Beige bravely asks her about Jim. Shane responded," You know what, after you left Jim, he was very miserable, it took him a long time before he was able to move on from you. He was very sad about not keeping his promise. He was lost for a time. His mother had died already and that even made him so sick about his life. He loves you so much, Beige. Good thing he met Ellaine. She helped him to recover from you. They have been married for a year already. I understand that each of us has our own reasons, Beige, why we choose the decision that we made, but it’s a little too late for you to patch things up with him. He’s with someone else now. For the longest time, he believes that you left him for your career, that you don’t love him enough, that’s why you were not able to come back.” Beige was so hurt after everything she heard from Shane. She started crying and feeling the pain so deeply. Shane comforts her. “Oh! God, what have I done?” said Beige while letting her emotions out. The night ended gloomy for Beige. She knows that, after all, it’s her fault. She knows that she won’t have him back. Beige just decided to stay for one more day. She didn’t plan to see him anymore or even talk to him in person. She just wants to enjoy that day because she will not go back there anymore. She strolls around, buys souvenirs, and eats smoothie bowls. Before she wants to leave the place again, she wants to sip her all-time favorite coffee, which is the cappuccino. She found courage in her heart to visit Jim’s workplace again. When she reached the place, it was still as peaceful as ever. The good food, nice conversation and romantic ambiance gave her the feeling again. She enters the store and all eyes are on her. They still remember her. Everybody was shocked to see her again after such a long time. Beige ordered her cappuccino and enjoyed it while it lasted. They are all just staring at her, without asking any questions. When she was about to leave, she talked to them and said, “Have a good life, everyone.” She walked outside without looking back. She goes back to her hotel to get her things to finally leave this place again, forever. It was late afternoon when Jim arrived at the store. His workmates are still left in awe of what had just happened a while ago. Later on, John informed him that after five long years, she was back. Jim cannot believe what he heard from his friend, John. He was left with no words to say from his mouth. He badly wants to see her. All the memories that they both created suddenly flashbacks to him. He knew that he would need to see her if it meant one last time. He ran directly as fast as he could to the bus stop. He was hoping to see her to the place where their love started to feel that deep connection. The place where their souls are connected. When he reached there, it was not Beige whom he saw. It was his wife, Ellaine. He sobs again, in his heart it feels like there are so many bullets trying to make him die that night. He sat down with his wife while there were so many people passing by the station. Suddenly, the bus starts to go to its destination. There he saw Beige looking so beautiful and warm. She was sitting by the window. He stands right away calling for her name. Ellaine also stands trying to tell her husband to stop, but deep inside she is feeling a little too hurt seeing their love story unfolding right in front of her. Beige saw them, most especially after five long years. Her eyes and Jim’s eyes met each other again but this time with so much pain from their eyes and hearts. Beige doesn’t understand her feelings when she sees him with his wife, Ellaine. She feels so jealous. In her mind, she was thinking, it should be her. She waves her hand to the two of them and she whispers, “Please, be happy.” Goodbye! Then, she right away put her face away from them. She starts crying painfully while listening to Celeste’s song, “Stranger.” The bus stops who witness their undying love for each other also witness the endgame of it. That night, Jim went home with his wife without saying any word. While Beige is at the airport, ready to leave everything behind again. No words, no explanation, no conversation, just simply knowing the fact that he marries another woman is more than enough for her to truly let go of him and she will just live with regret for the decision she has made as long as she lives. “Love is one hell of a ride. It’s nice to be in love, but it’s even harder when you start to feel the pain your partner will cause you. It’s a decision you have to make, and make sure you will never regret it in the long run. It’s a test of love to know if someone can really wait for you, no matter how shady the relationship gets. It’s a sacrifice that you have to make in order to see your person happy even without you. It’s a life-changing decision that I will surely regret forever. I will never forget you, but you and I are not meant for each other. I hope when our universe collides next time, I will not make the same mistake again. I hope that there are still you and me in another life, but for now, goodbye and will not see you again, forever.” she wrote.
