Levi’s POV:
We park in front of Dahnya’s house. Her dad’s car is not in the driveway, so she assumes he is at work but sends him a text message anyway. Robert responds a few minutes later, telling her that he is okay and will see her at home after work — and that he expects to see me there too…
Yikes! I hope that is a good sign. Dahnya and I have a lot to talk about, so I lock the truck, and we head inside. “Are you hungry?” I nod. I am hungry for her, but I forcefully shift my thoughts. “I could use some food. What do you have in mind?”
My mate drops her backpack in the entrance hall and walks into the kitchen, where she pulls open the fridge door. “I could make us some macaroni and cheese, or a sandwich, for now, to take the edge off?” Her mother’s invitation springs to mind.
