Chapter 40: A mother’s grand betrayal
Dahnya’s POV:
Levi leads me down the stairs for dinner. We have both showered and changed into clean, warm clothes. It has become pitch-black outside in the short time we spent upstairs. Not surprising, as we are in the thick of winter.
We enter the kitchen, and everyone else is already seated. I can’t make eye contact, as I am worried they know what we were up to upstairs. Levi pinches my thigh under the table reassuringly. “Mom, I would love to take Dahnya exploring tomorrow. Brie could tag along if she wants to?”
Thank goodness, he knows just how to clear the air and take my mind off embarrassing thoughts. His sister squeals in delight. “I will take that as a yes, Brie?” She nods a few times with big, twinkly grey eyes.
