Chapter 6 – Lack of Judgement

1358 Words
Ark’s jawline trembling, his control on his emotions started to lapse significantly as a growl vibrated through his lips. His eyes whipping around the room one last time, the filth and scent was seared into his memory as he turned to the door. Eyes settling upon Arlo, a rage burnt the back of Ark’s throat like a fire, “find her now!”. Arlo suddenly focusing under Ark’s mood swing, his whole body near collapsed as he tried to stand tall to appear unphased by the shift in Ark’s aura. Exiting the room completely, Ark grew closer and closer to Arlo with an urge to put his hands on him. Rarely did Ark allow his malice to grow to such a level, though werewolves were known for their untamed nature and with his mate hanging in the balance. It was growing to overwhelming proportions inside of his body, only growing stronger at the memory of Arlo stating she was a w***e. Ark swiftly turning, he launched his fist at the door frame to release the pressure building before it reached an uncontrolled boiling point. With a cracking sound, splinters flew as a few bricks fell to the floor scattering like rubble in a demolition site. Heaving in a deep breath, Ark momentarily closed his eyes tyring to draw back his emotions into check. Upon opening his eyes once more, Ark focused on Arlo who was now pressed hard against the adjacent wall. Almost cowering, Arlo had never witnessed Ark with such uncontrolled violence. His brother was always the person who kept it together, he was the Alpha, leader of their pack. Ark in his mind did not make errors, not of judgment, nor of control. Yet right now, he appeared to be making both as he searched for the w***e for a reason he still could not understand. Arlo’s gaze fritting around the hall as if looking for help, he paused as his eyes slightly squinted. Seemingly unable to speak, Arlo rose his arm pointing with a finger. Eventually whispering out the word, “her.” Ark’s heart sinking, he reminded himself of a pup, one of his young warriors that he was constantly training to gain control. Yet, he could still not entirely stop himself, that room only pushing him further to the limit as the need to find her grew exponentially greater. He was disgusted with himself for treating his brother so, Arlo always managed to press his buttons, but it just so happened that today was not the day for it. Watching his brother all but cower into the wall, Ark rose his hand to his hair running it through shakily as he drew in large breaths until Arlo started moving, started talking and pointing. Following Arlo’s finger, Ark heard his word as his eyes latched onto and unconscious body in the arms of one of his warriors heading up the stairs at the end of the hall. A hand hanging down lifelessly, the skin was pure white like it had never seen the sunlight. Ark’s muscles contracting, a fierce pain beat in his chest, but just like that, she disappeared from his view. Ark kicking into to motion, his feet hardly touched the floor as he flew down the hall and up the staircase in pursuit. Not even needing to look, Ark’s nose was searing like a red-hot poker was stuck in his nostrils branding her scent upon him. It pulled him in her direction, force him to move faster and push harder. Suddenly, nothing else mattered, nothing else even came close to having and holding his mate, making sure she was okay. The warriors body only an arm’s length in front of him, Ark reached out gipping the back of the warrior’s neck with a strong force. “Stop!” The warrior he now recognised by scent as Ollie, the young warrior froze as his body stiffened in obedience. Ark’s fingers squeezing a little tighter, he could feel Ollie’s skin quiver in fear at his sudden action. Ollie turning ever so slowly, he slightly bowed his head at Ark in respect and submission. “Alpha.” Ark’s eyes settling on the unconscious figure in Ollie’s arms, his hand released its grip on his neck instantly. Looking down in Ollie’s arms, it was like the whole world just stopped for him. His eyes taking in every molecule, he watched the long brunette hair flowing like a waterfall covering the girls face and draping down loosely. The white skin showing off nearly every inch of her tiny body. A growl surfaced, it was clear she had been assaulted, ravaged, her tiny garments no more then underwear ripped and exposing more flesh than he would ever allow. Bruises defiling her milky white skin, they had only started showing. Darkening with his eyes, the growl died out in his throat turning to a low whine at the thought of her pain. Needing to take her from Ollie, Ark’s body was suddenly a mess. He shook as he slowly reached out his large hands to take hold of the little bundle in arms. Taking a half step closer to Ollie, Ark tried not to jostle his newfound injured mate. His bare arms, hands and wrists touching her warm bare flesh, his chest thumped and constricted at the same time. It was as if the world was gone, electricity pulsing through his body urging him to bring her closer, tighter to his body. Immediately he noticed how light she was, she could not have weighed a great deal more than Darius. A flash of red catching his eyes, the brown locks curtaining her face fell away as he tipped her inward to his chest to cushion her securely. A pang in his chest, the hair slowly fell away uncovering her face. Full of anticipation at the face he planned to etch into his mind forever, a blood covered face held his gaze. A silent moan parting her lips, Ark’s heart clenched as Ollie’s words cut through the wall barring this moment from the outside world. “She was by a box of pills, I think she overdosed Alpha.” The words running through his mind in what felt like slow motion, he recognized she did have an odd scent lingering in addition to the rest of the filth covering her. Her heart palpitating, concerned blossomed even higher in Ark. Braking into a run towards the hotel, curious eyes turned to watch him from all directions. Her little body starting to tremble, the heat grew hotter. It emanated from her skin like smouldering coal. Looking down to watch her, there was no movement suggesting she would awake even from the heavy jostling in his arms as he ran. A room ready and waiting for him, Ark did not both to stop as he kicked the door open. Darius jumping up from the couch, Atkin’s stood by his side as if ready to guard the boy with his own life. Slightly laxing at the scent of Ark, Atkin’s stiffened again at the site and state that greeted him. Darius running forward, his little voice rang out like a bell. “Madi!” Atkin’s moving, his hands latched to Darius’ shoulders pulling him back as Ark’s eyes narrowed on them with intolerance. Moving into the next room, Ark slammed the bedroom door behind him. Swiftly running to the bathroom, Ark reached out turning on the cold water before walking right into the flow with Madi, his new world securely supported in his arms.
