Where were you last night? My dad asked calmly. I looked at my mom and saw nothing in her expression. I wanted her to speak for me so badly.
"I was in my room, sleeping," I replied, picking my words carefully.
"Madeline told you why she was here?"
"No."
The atmosphere was getting more tense for me.
"Chris was murdered last night," he said with anger in his eyes. And my mother started to weep.
"They heard it was from the rival pack again; it's about time we retaliate," he said, clenching his fist.
I sat there speechless; I was sad Madeline lost her dad, but deep down, I felt relieved.
"What are you silent about?" my dad frowned.
"Nothing; I should get dressed and show up for her."
I stood and started walking to my room.
"See me before you leave; I have some things to give her mother," my mom said, her voice so low that a human wouldn't hear her.
I fell on the bed immediately I got to my room; I felt relieved and sad at the same time. I doubted Madeline, and I was disappointed with myself. I still have a lot of things to look up to. Next week is Luna alignment, and I already had my one-night stand with Aaron. I wished I had remained a virgin, just as my parents had wished.
It was too close; I have been waiting for so long to know my soulmate, and everything is crumbling right before me.
I changed my dress after 30 minutes of soliloquizing and went to look for my mother. She was in the kitchen packing lunch.
"We can't visit Madeline's family until the funeral," she said. "I don't know why, but it has always been the rules applied to pack elders."
"Hey," she said, forcing a weak smile. She hugged me, and I felt more at ease; I needed it.
She gave me the food she had packed and asked if I wanted some for myself. I didn't feel like eating, so I declined.

Getting out of my car, I was received by Madeline and Celina. It was like they had been waiting for me. We exchanged hugs, and I gave Madeline the lunch my mother packed for her.
"I am so sorry I didn't call you before coming to your house; I wasn't in my right senses, and it's compulsory I inform all the elders in person first, but I still feel bad I didn't tell you first." Madeline said to me while holding my hand.
"It's fine; come here," I hugged her tight. "Everything is going to be alright," I whispered.
Madeline went in, and I stayed behind with Celina.
"Hey," I said to her, a bit nervous.
"What happened last night?" She asked suddenly
"Aaron has been moody since, and I'm sure it's not about Madeline's father."
"Huh, I don't know." I replied
"Sure you do, you were with him last night." She kept on pestering me.
"Yes, but we are on good terms."
Talking about the devil, there he was. Aaron rode his Kawasaki Ninja H2 superbike into the compound. I felt his elegance and the beauty of the bike.
He stopped right beside us and removed his helmet.
"Hey," he said to me, but he wore a frown, and I knew something was amiss.
"Have I done anything wrong?" I asked myself instead of asking him directly.
Celina excused us and went into the house when she noticed the tension.
"When I woke up, you were gone. Why?" He asked firmly.
"Is that an issue?" I replied to him with another question, and I could see he was getting impatient.
"I just had to go; we should forget anything happened between us; it's not more than a fling." I said, not minding he was wearing a frown.
I see no reason he should be upset in the first place when he clearly didn't like me. It was an adult thing. There shouldn't be any emotions attached even though I have feelings for him.
He looked at me in awe and didn't say a thing.
"Aaron!" Madeline called from the doorstep.
He got down from the bike and went in with Madeline, leaving me on the spot.
I couldn't fathom what I had said wrong; he was never going to be serious with me at first, so why is he upset?
I walked quietly into the house, and there were a lot of people I knew. I went upstairs to look for Celina, and after getting to Madeline's room to check, I met Madeline making out with a guy, his back was turned on me.
I was upset at first because it shows she has no regard for her dead father. I couldn't tell who the other person was, they were both so intimate that they didn't notice my presence.
I shuddered and continued walking down the hallway to look for Celina and Aaron.
Finally I found Celina in a room with two other girls, they look so much alike facially. I walked to the door and stood there even though it's widely open.
“Hey, Come join us” Celina gestured.
“And meet Zoe and Zelina, the omega twins”
“Hi” I waved lazily. They nodded to acknowledge my greeting.
“I heard you are with Aaron now?” Zoe said almost immediately, in an annoying and nosy manner.
Celina turned to me, I could sense she was anxious.
“No,” I said in an almost sassy tone.
“Well, I just wanted to confirm from you because I saw him and Madeline earlier and I'm sure they got something going on”
I felt a sharp pain in my heart, I was disappointed.
Celina noticed and whispered to my ear.
“Come on”
She held my hand and led me out of the room. The two girls sat there, too shocked to say anything.
I was so ashamed of myself, I couldn't face reality. I'm having panic attacks just because a man I'm not dating is with someone else.
Getting close to the room I had seen Madeline, I remembered I didn't see the guy she was making out with. It struck me suddenly, it was Aaron.
Celina on the other hand wasn't sure what happened to me.
We stopped right before getting to the room and I was close to passing out.
“Wait here, I'll get help” I heard Celina faintly.
I fell with a loud thud and I heard Celina scream.
I saw Madeline rush out of the room followed by a man. I couldn't see his face properly.
I passed out.
