He drove south past the city limits sign, searching for the ideal spot to stop at almost one a.m. that wouldn't attract too much attention. A half-hour later, in the middle of nowhere and under a moonless night sky, he eased his Ford to the side of the road, killed the headlights, and waited for five minutes. No one passed by. Perfect. Now's the time. He got out, moved around the front of the vehicle to the passenger side, and opened the door that Toby was slumped against.
