Silver lay on her bed, one leg crossed over the other, staring at the ceiling. Elsa typed away on her laptop across the room while Andrea music softly and tried on outfits in front of the mirror.
Her phone buzzed.
Mom.
She hesitated. The name alone was enough to send a thousand thoughts spiraling. She hadn’t expected a call—not so soon. Not after the way she left.
She swiped to answer.
“Silver.”
Her mom’s voice was clipped, tight with worry.
“Hi, Mom.”
“I got your test results. Dr. Logan called.”
Silver sat up straight. Her breath caught. She didn't expect her mom to find out about her illness
“You weren’t going to tell me, were you?”
Silver’s fingers curled around the phone. “I was handling it.”
“No, you were hiding it. You think I wouldn’t find out about the fainting spells? The blood count? Your constant headache ? How long were you planning to keep this a secret?” Her mom voice began to c***k in tears
Silver stood up and paced to the window. “I didn’t come here to talk about this. I came to live. I need this. Just a normal start for once.”
“Normal?” her mother’s voice cracked. “You’re sick, Silver. And you being stubborn won’t change that.”
Silence.
Tears dripped down her face quietly, her heart was filled with sorry and she whimpered in pain.
“I’m scared,” her mom confessed. “I already lost your father. I’m not losing you too.”
Silver swallowed hard. “You’re not. I promise.”
“You need to come home. Withdraw—”
“No.”
It came out sharp, final.
“I’m not quitting. Not for this. I’ll take my meds, I’ll be careful, but I’m staying.”
There was a long pause.
“Then you better fight, Silver. Fight harder than ever. Because this thing won’t go easy on you. I would do whatever it is meant for me to save you, my child always remembers that I and your brother are here for you.”
The line went dead.
Silver stood there, breathing hard, emotions tangled in her throat. Tears threatened to fall, She never wished for a life cut short , she had never felt the to be scared of afraid but her life is near a verge of ending.
Andrea tiptoed to her ,startled her “You okay?”
Silver turned. Her eyes were glassy, but her face was strong. “Yeah. Just some personal stuff.”
Elsa pushed her laptop aside. Andrea patted the bed. “Come sit.”
“ No matter what the problem is we are always here for for you” The pulled each other into a comforting hug
They didn’t press. Didn’t need to. They just hugged each other, each offering silent solidarity in their own way. It was a soothing moment —but in that moment, Silver realized something: she wasn’t alone anymore. Maybe coming here wasn't that bad afterall .

Later that afternoon, Silver and Andrea walked into her communications class only to freeze.
Xavier was sitting in the middle of the class , with ladies swarmed beside him he seemed unfascinated by their presence. He just sat down, legs stretched out, scrolling through his phone like he didn’t notice her—or the chaos he caused in her thoughts.
She boldly took a sit beside them taking everyone by surprise even Xavier himself of course she is his daring little angel.
“Group assignments,” the professor announced earning everyone's attention.
“Names on the screen.”
Silver looked up.
Group Four: Xavier Asher. Silver Klait. Rafael Cruz. Andrea Rivera.
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” she muttered.
Rafael, already at the desk, grinned. “Seems like our path is crossed together.”
Andrea looked between Xavier and Silver. “This is either the beginning of a team project or a WWE match.” Xavier and Rafael are sworn enemies they always end up fighting pairing them in one group definitely is trouble.
Xavier finally looked up at Silver. “Looks like you're stuck with me, kitten.”
“I’ll survive,” she replied coolly. “Just don’t expect me to carry your weight.”
His smirk deepened. “Oh, I always pull my weight. You’ll see.”
They sat in a loose circle, discussing their topic. Surprisingly, Xavier had ideas. Smart ideas. He wasn’t just a pretty face and ego—he was sharp. Strategic. And just annoying enough to keep her on edge.
Every time he spoke, her stomach twisted, and not entirely from irritation. He is surprisingly cool and Rafeal has well is also a genius on his own .
“I feel I am a novice here com”on we have genius in our group” She said jokingly
“ I feel we should make more research on this it would make our idea more unique and enticing” Silver explained more further
Rafael looked at her with admiration . Xavier noticed and His eyes flicked between them. He leaned closer to Silver and whispered, “You gazTyt brain down there kitten”
Silver grinned. “Never knew you would recognise that fact”
Xavier smirked

That evening in the dorm, laughter echoed off the walls. Andrea had turned their room into a mini spa, complete with face masks and snacks. Silver was singing and swaying into the vibes of the music ,That part by Lauren Spencer
“This is bonding time, baby!” she announced, slathering a green goo on Elsa cheek.
“I swear if I break out, I’m coming for your damn ass.” Elsa warned.
Silver laughed—an actual, belly-deep laugh. Swaying and she felt a heart felt happiness.
That’s when the door burst open.
Anastasia
Flanked by her ever-loyal minions, Trixieand Ruby
“Look at this... witch coven,” Anastasia sneered. “Didn’t know Crestwood let in street rats.”
Andrea stood. “Didn’t know plastic dolls could walk on their own. Must be a glitch in the system.”
Trixie scoffed. “You’re really mouthy for nobody.”
Silver slowly stood up, turning off the music, with a face calm but eyes burning. “What do you want, Anastasia?”
“I want you to know that you don’t belong here,” Anastasia snapped. “You’re just a charity case with a sharp tongue. People like you don’t last at Crestwood.”
Silver took a step forward. “Funny. People like you crumble the second someone doesn’t play by your rules.”
“Oh really?”
“Really. You want me to leave Xavier alone? Talk to him. I don’t chase boys—especially not ones with fangirls who need therapy.”
Elsa burst out laughing. Even Trixie cracked a grin before quickly hiding it.
Bianca flushed red. “You’ll regret crossing me.”
Silver rolled her eyes. “Get in line.” And let me tell you something figurine of you don't put your ass down I would date your so called crush and rub it off your face”
Anastasia turned with a dramatic huff and stormed out.
As the door slammed shut, Andrea cackled. “You are my queen!”Elsa grinned. “Next time, record it.”
Silver smiled, the heaviness from earlier melting under the warmth of friendship and victory.
But in the back of her mind, her mother’s voice echoed.
Fight harder than ever.
She would. She doesn't want to leave this world not anytime soon and she is going to fight it through with all her might.
Because if Crestwood was a battlefield, she wasn’t just surviving it—she was owning it.
