CHAPTER 004

Mateo's perspective I practically ran out of my seat when the lunch bell finally rang. I couldn't wait to leave class and get some food. My phone buzzed in my pocket as I was ready to leave. My "sort-of" girlfriend, Lucinda, if you can call her that, was the sender, according to a quick glance. Meet me in the equipment room at five o'clock, sexy. I want to feel your firm body against mine. Despite rolling my eyes, I still had a reaction. The girl is attractive, but Lucinda can be clingy and annoying. When she wants my attention, she always manages to get it. Yes, of course, darling. I'm eager to feel you. :) I definitely needed a way to release some pent-up energy because the scene with Camila earlier didn't get the response I was hoping for. And what about her and that Alejandro guy? Yes., I had had enough of being irritated. Carolina was sitting on the gym mats, looking like a model in that tiny skirt, when I entered the dimly lit equipment room. Her blond hair was twirled around her finger as she fixed me with a seductive gaze. She pouted as she said, "I've been waiting for you." With my gaze following her body, I took a step closer. She drew me closer as she leaned forward. She whispered in my ear, "Come here and help me relax," and it made me shiver. All of my frustration vanished when she bit my earlobe. The need to lose myself in her was all that remained. I kissed her, and she sighed. I quickly realised she had chosen not to wear knickers today when my hands wandered up her skirt. "Aren't you a naughty one?" I whispered to her. As I marked her skin, I heard her breath catch as I gently tugged her hair and tipped her head back. She groaned, obviously enjoying the roughness. She gasped and pressed herself against me, saying, "Please do it again." As I gave her a deeper kiss, her fingers scraped down my back. As I moved my lips to her body, I couldn't help but smile. I followed the line of her jaw and moved my hands down to her thighs, so I could feel the heat between her legs as my hands moved up under her skirt. She groaned, her voice trembling with need, "I want to feel you deep inside." I only needed that invitation. I undid my belt and slid into her, taking my time at first to enjoy her reaction. She groaned, and I accelerated, focusing all of my earlier annoyance on her. I froze when the room's light abruptly flicked on. Coach Robert was standing at the door with his arms crossed, obviously unimpressed, and it made my heart sink. He demanded, "What in God's name is going on here?" Not even a little embarrassed, I straightened up quickly. "Hey, Coach! I was just hanging out with Carolina. Coach's eyes squinted. "Are you hanging out? Mateo, you're not even on the team. Why do you think you can do this in my equipment room? I relaxedly leaned against the wall. "I'm actually playing basketball this year, Coach." His mouth fell open. "You what?" As Carolina and I swept past him and made our way to the door, I said with ease, "See you at tryouts, Coach." I turned and called back before I left. "Excited to join the team!" With pride bursting from my chest, I slammed the door behind us. Carolina squeezed my hand as she laughed. "It was quite close. After that, do you think he'll still allow you to join the team? "Of course," I sneered. "I'll be on the court in no time after a few strings are pulled." She arched an eyebrow. "Do you think we ought to get a bite to eat before lunch ends?" I nodded and used a little more force than was necessary to push open the cafeteria door. There was a loud bang as the door slammed against the wall. I observed the friction between Camila and Alejandro as we passed her table. He appeared enraged, as if he had just gotten into a furious dispute with someone. However, I smiled when Camila gave me a death glare. To get under her skin, I smirked as I looked directly into her eyes. Carolina marked her territory by leaning into me and tightening her hold on my hand. Though I wasn't sure if I cared, I could feel her warmth against me. After getting our food, we took a seat at a table close to Camila and her pals. After guiding me to my seat, Carolina sat down on my lap and put her arms around my neck. I winced as I tried to gently push her away. "Get off me," I whispered to myself. Her lips brushed my ear as she purred, "But baby, I want you." I yelled, "Not here," and yanked her arms away from me. She crossed her arms and pouted. "Ten minutes ago, you weren't saying that." My friends Diego and Marco arrived before I could reply, letting their trays fall to the table. "So, where did you two go after the bell?" Diego enquired in a curious tone. Carolina twirled a lock of hair around her finger as she laughed. She ran a nail down my chest and said, "Oh, Mateo and I had a little session in the equipment room." "Wasn’t it fun, babe?" I rolled my eyes in a nonchalant manner. "Yes, until Coach came in and got us." "No way!" Marco cried out. "Did you get in trouble?" I smiled and shook my head. "No, I just informed him that I would be joining the team this year." "Really?" Diego asked, his eyes wide. "Dude, it's time! You've been missed on the court. Marco continued, "Yeah, with you back, we'll crush those losers," alluding to our competitors. I couldn't resist grinning. I was the team's standout player in middle school, but I left for reasons I didn't want to discuss. Perhaps this was my opportunity to return to the court and demonstrate my abilities. "So, is Alejandro, Mr. Star Athlete, aware of this yet?" Diego jerked his chin in Alejandro's direction and teased him. Just hearing his name made me frown. I was always annoyed by him. This season, I would make sure to hold him accountable. "What does he think?" I tried to sound dismissive, but the thought of him made my hands clench into fists. "His stardom is about to collapse." Marco abruptly exclaimed, "We should celebrate your return to the team!" "Tonight, my parents are going out. Have a party at my house, dude. I smiled and said, "Now you're speaking my language." There was no doubt that I needed to release some tension. I couldn't help but feel like they were staring at me from the other side of the room as they planned the party. I spun around and met Camila's eyes once more. Those eyes of fire. Something about the way she looked at me made my blood boil, even though I knew she was angry. To see if I could irritate her further, I might invite her to the party. Carolina jerked me out of my reverie with a snap of her fingers. She glared at me and demanded, "Who were you just checking out?" I quickly forced myself to hide the fact that I had been looking at Camila. "No one. I dismissed it, saying, "Just thinking about tryouts." Carolina didn't believe it. Her face instantly became stormy as she followed my gaze. She said sharply, "You were totally checking out Camila, weren't you?" "Don't be ridiculous," I sneered. Diego smiled, always willing to stir things up. "Carolina, will you allow Camila to look at your man in that way?" Carolina was now furious. Her hands slammed against the table. She muttered, "I'm going over there," and rushed away before I could stop her. "Carolina, no!" It was too late when I called for her. With rage on her face, she strode directly to Camila's table. "You little skank, why are you eyeing my man?"Carolina got into a fight. "I notice how you gaze at him. Take a step back. Mateo is looking for a real woman, not a girl with a flat chest like you. I was about to scream at Carolina to stop when I froze because my mouth went dry. Why was I so concerned? Camila and I weren't exactly friends anymore. Allow her to defend herself. I watched tensely as Camila slowly got to her feet, staring at Carolina with a look that could freeze hell. "First of all," Camila stated in a cold tone, "I would never want your careless seconds." With disgust on her face, she examined Carolina from head to toe. Second, you are Mateo's to have. Any girl who is desperate enough to spread her legs for that cocky jerk has my sympathy. Her words made me cringe, but... The fire in her eyes kind of turned me on, though I'm not sure why. Carolina appeared to be on the verge of blowing up. "Why, you little—" Carolina screamed and ran in Camila's direction. Lupita, however, leapt to her feet and held her back. "Get a grip!" Lupita lost her temper. Then she turned and gestured to me with a finger. "And you—before I give her something to cry about, remove your attack dog from our table." Unsure whether to be amused or irritated, I raised my hands in a mock surrender. This was becoming far too dramatic. I took another look at Camila's table and saw that Alejandro had said nothing at all.
