Chapter 21

I was so tired. I had two long days in a row. Janelle was going to close out of work for me thankfully. I was able to get off work early.
I was supposed to bring something to dinner over at the Tanner's home that night. But I had no time cook anything. I decided to stop by the local grocery store and pick something up for dinner.
It would not be home made but it would be good. I had not been to the store in some time. Because I was either eating out with Jesse or taking leftovers from the Tanner home that the girls sent home with me. I had no need to go to the store with them helping me all the time. Taking care of me. Being so sweet.
I really wanted to have Jesse over at my place sometime that week. Alone. So, we could have a romantic dinner for two.
It seemed we always were either eating out or eating with family. Or with his bandmates and their women. I admit that I needed some one-on-one alone time with Jesse. I loved it when we were with everyone. But being alone with Jesse was the best time.

"I am back in town. For a short time. I had a job interview here. I hope to see Jess while I am in town. But I do not know if he will see me. After that b***h came in between us" I hear someone talking to someone.
"Becky we sure have missed you on tv. We love Vicki but we missed you" someone gushes.
Becky was back in town? For how long??
I glance around the corner. Sure, enough there was Becky hugging some worker here.
"Dana I really have missed you to. And being back here. I miss Jesse most of all. I hope that I get that job here. Then I will move back, and everything will fall into place" Becky is telling her friend.
"Do you really think Jess will dump that girl he has been with? I have saw them at the club they looked pretty serious" warns the other girl.
"He might be. But he is only using her to get over me" scoffs Becky.
"Becky hey what are you doing in town?" I say as I come up to join them. Becky sure looks startled. She was dressed perfect. Wearing a crisp white dress shirt. Gold jewelry and a set with a bracelet. She had on navy blue jeans on and dress shoes. Her hair was always perfectly in place.
"Skyler hi" she greets me.
We hug awkwardly.
"I was in town for a meeting. Not sure how long I will be here" she lies to my face.
"I see. Does Jess know you are in town?" I worry.
"No, not yet. I called Danny over at the house to see if he could have lunch" she tells me.
"I think it's best after the last time he saw you if you leave him alone" I state.
He nearly died because of her. And she could have cared less. Her actions spoke out.
She glares at me.

"That is not up to you if Jess will see me now is it? You always have been threatened by me" she laughs. "you are pathetic. He is only with you because he can't be with me" she chuckles. "everyone knows it even you."
"I do not have to justify my relationship with Jesse. You dumped him. He has moved on with me. Your loss is my gain" I answer with a smile. "I must be going. I don't want to keep the Tanner's waiting or Jess for dinner. I was invited over tonight. See ya" I cheerfully tell her.
I wander away. Not letting her get to me. Why did she want him back? Would he want her back? She was always toying with his feelings. Coming in between us.
She wanted him because he was with me. That was the only reason. If she had him then I was out of the way then she was going to dump him again. She went back and forth on things.
I sigh trying not to let her ruin my thoughts or my night. I buy some potato salad to bring to the Tanner's home. Then pay for my things. And head on my way over to the Tanner's. Danny was sitting on the couch with DJ doing her home work it looked like.

"Hi there. We need to talk" Danny greets me.
"Sorry I did not make it. I did not have time. But I bring this" I say as I hand him the potato salad.
"Skyler there is something you need to know" he worries.
"Becky is in town" we say at the same time. DJ laughs.
"I saw her in the grocery store there" I tell him.
"Oh" he sighs. "I guess you and Jess will be over and then we still can all be friends, right?" he asks me.
"What?" I laugh.
"You know uncle Jesse has always been in love with Becky. Do you think he will dump you for her?" DJ asks me. She stands up. They all thought he was going to dump me to? My heart sinks at their vote of confidence here.
"I am not dumping Skyler for Becky" announces Jesse as he comes in the room. He had over heard us talking. He comes to my side. He kisses me. "I know she is in town Danny told me. I am over her. I am done. I told you all that. Don't fill Skyler's head with nonsense" he warns them all.
"Sorry uncle Jesse" sighs DJ.
"They mean well" I say.
"They are knuckleheads" he laughs.
"I did not have time to make something like everyone else did" I warn him.
"Neither did a lot of us" laughs Jesse as he leads me into the kitchen.
Most all of them brought potato salad or pasta salad from the same store. I laugh. As Vicky does to. She joins us. She smiles sheepishly.
"Greet minds think alike I suppose?" she laughs.
"I guess so" I agree.

We have a nice dinner outside in the yard. My worries of Becky and what she might do fade away. Jesse takes my hand in his under the table as we sit there eating dinner. He smiles at me then squeezes my hand. I squeeze his hand back in mine.
"I love you Skyler" he whispers to me.
I turn and look in his eyes.
"I love you Jesse. Forever" I vow. He kisses me.
"Ew!" says Stephanie.
Jesse and I laugh. After we eat Jesse and I do dishes. And put the food away. I help out in the kitchen. Jesse was humming to the music that was playing on the radio there in the kitchen. He seemed to be in a good mood. In the back of my mind Becky was the reason why I worried. And was she the reason why he was in a good mood?
Was it?
"Skyler I need to ask you something. Danny and I were talking. We all think this is a good idea" Jesse begins. We were done doing dishes. He leads me over to the table. We sit down.
"What is a good idea Jess?" I ask.
He looks rather nervous. He places his hands in mine.
"This was before Becky was in town. So you know this has nothing to do with that" he begins.
I nod. "Alright" I answer.
"Move in here. You are here all the time. We have room. You could move in with me" he offers.
"Move in here? With you?" I stammer.
He nods. "I miss you when you are gone. The kids love you. They want you here to. I want things to get more serious with us. I can't move in with you at your place. I am sorry. I would love to one day. But right now these girls need me. They need you. And I am asking. I need you. Move in with me?" he asks softly. His eyes look at mine. With hope.
"Jess" I say nervously. I was floored. He wanted me to move in with him. I could see all his valid points. He was right! He could not very well move out. And leave Danny. And the girls. They did need him.
"Please?" he begs me. He pulls me up out of the chair. He pulls me in his arms. Then kisses me. "think of going to bed with me every night. Waking in each other's arms. Eating together everyday. I would love to see you like that every day. The girls to"
"I don't know what to say" I laugh.
"Say yes please" begs Stephanie as she leaps in the room.
Jesse groans. "You were supposed to wait out there" he warns her.
"I could not wait to see what Skyler says. Please oh please move in with us" she begs me.
"Pretty please?" Jesse joins in with her.
I laugh. "How can I say no to that?" I declare.
"Yay! She said yes!" Stephanie announces. "Skyler is moving in with us" yells Stephanie.
Everyone comes in. they cheer. They all get me in a group hug. I laugh as they hug me.
"Welcome" Danny greets me.
"Thanks for having me" I wistfully say,
Jesse grins. "This is a cause for celebration" Jesse tells us.
"Ice cream! Let's go get some" says DJ.
"Yes!" says Steph.
"Alright. Frozen yogurt on me" says Danny.
We all head out to go into town. Jesse stops me before I get on his bike.
"This is amazing. I can't wait to room with you" he tells me. "Thank you, Skyler," he tells me in the most serious tone. He kisses me.
"I love you. I know you love them, and I understand. I love them to" I promise him.
"I know you do sweetheart" he says. "No worries about Becky either. She will never come in between us. She left me at the worse time of my life. You were always there. Always here for me. I will always be here for you. I love you so much" he swears to me.
I melt into him. "Jess I adore you" I vow as his lips land on mine.
What a wonderful day. I was now a Tanner. I was moving in with them all. I could hardly wait!
