The NCAA Fencing Championships arrived in March, hosted that year at a large athletic complex in Ohio, and Ivy found herself, for the first time, competing not as an individual representing her own name and family legacy, but as part of a genuine team — Princeton's full fencing roster, men's and women's squads combined, competing together for an institutional title that carried its own distinct weight from anything she'd previously experienced.
