When Lucian was 3 years old, he completed his first partial shift. Moonlight spilled over the snow in Silvercrest territory as a chubby silver-gray wolf pup wriggled out from under the hem of my skirt, ran two steps, and tumbled into the snow. Adrian knelt a short distance away and held out his hands. "Slow down." Lucian shook the snow off his head, struggled back to his feet, and stumbled straight into his father's arms. His silver-gray coat made him look almost exactly like Adrian did in his childhood photos. Elders from both the Blackwood Pack and the Silvercrest Pack were there, and no one doubted Lucian's bloodline anymore. After the banquet, Adrian walked us out to the terrace.
