Devano is preparing to go to work today. Yes, work. Even though they just got married last night and he's already busy going to work again.
"Don't want to take a vacation first? What will the employees say if you come straight after getting married?" Aluna said while looking at Devano who was preparing.
"Do I care what the employees say?" Devano looked at her with a flat stare. "They won't be able to do anything to me, coming home married or not makes no difference to work operating hours. What am I in this house for?"
Aluna sighed softly then remained silent for a moment.
"Do you expect us to have a honeymoon like other newly married couples?"
Before Aluna could speak, Devano had spoken up again and that made Aluna happen to say what she was thinking.
"Don't hope, I only love Amanda."
After saying that, Devano took the bag and walked away from the room. Aluna could only watch with a face that looked all wrong, how else should she behave while she would face the man for the rest of her life like this.
"You are the one who misunderstood, you are the wrong person, but if you blame me. You thought we were matched with Amanda when it was me, I don't know why you have such a selfish nature." Aluna sighed tiredly.
Wanting to refuse is also useless, they are married. Now Aluna's goal is to get ready, she better go to work so that her salary will not decrease. Although the boss of the company was her husband, but that man didn't want it so it was better for her to be on guard than to be in trouble herself.
"Just pretend nothing ever happened, pretend I'm not married as usual. It's just a matter of status, since it's not recognized so I won't recognize it either." Aluna put on her blazer and walked out of the room after picking up the bag.
This rather large mansion looked quiet, not knowing whether Devano would hire servants or not. If not, it doesn't matter because he can also take care of himself, right? If he didn't accept Aluna to take care of him, Aluna didn't mind either.
"Miss, Master is leaving. Let me take you to the office," said Leny, Aluna's maid who came from the main house.
Leny was her confidant, someone who was hired by Aluna's father because Aluna was a woman who had a job and also a pretty good career. Aluna is indeed a cousin of Amanda, but their relationship is not as close as that. That's why somehow Devano could misunderstand and think that Amanda would be married to him so he had long fallen in love with the girl.
"Miss is having a bad day huh?"
Aluna sighed. "I also didn't know that I was the one who was matched with him, our marriage was sudden and abrupt. I thought he was going to marry Amanda, because the rumor was that Devano loved Amanda. Even though his love was one-sided, it still got in the way of our marriage. He couldn't accept me because he was already disappointed like he was lied to, even though I don't know who was telling him that he would be matched with Amanda," Aluna said, making Leny sigh.
"Why do the parents of both parties use such an old-fashioned way to marry off their children. Miss is suffering, living with a man without feelings seems like it will never be happy. Are you going to stay? There's still time if you want to leave him," Leny said, making Aluna sigh and look outside.
"You know, I'm an adult. Daddy has been working with the Herdian family for years before I grew up. Uncle Sam or Devano's father also loves me like his own child. I don't know what their purpose is in loving me like that, you think because my father's relationship with him is close so I don't interpret too much. It turns out that their purpose in setting me up with his son and I'm married now to Devano. It's not the time for me to play running around like that just because Devano doesn't love me," Aluna said with a face that looked a bit unacceptable but couldn't do anything about it.
"So how will you live your life?" asked Leny with a sad face.
"Just like usual, just pretend there's no relationship with him at the office, that's enough to keep business with each other."
Arriving at the Herd Tech company office that already stood so big in front of her, Aluna came out and found Amanda who walked in also in front of her. The woman from last night had also come to their wedding blessing, along with a man she recognized as the boyfriend she was going to marry.
"Today, he came Miss. Are you sure it will be alright?"
Aluna smiled softly, standing gracefully next to her luxury car. "His girlfriend is real?"
"After I noticed and investigated, Mr. Myren who was brought by Miss Amanda last night has indeed been in a relationship with her for many years. It's real, I don't know what it means to say that she chose another husband and asked Mr. Devano to marry you without guilt. In fact, if that was her boyfriend she wouldn't have to lie either, why does she have to act like a hurt person when a man can't marry her?" asked Leny irritably.
"It's because she knows that Devano loves her, not me. Amanda has always wanted to fight with me, anything I get more than her, she'll try to keep it as hers. She is a manipulative woman, I will no longer be trapped by what she will do after this."
Aluna walked into the company and returned the greetings of the employees there. Until finally, she saw Devano walking towards Amanda at the coffee table.
"You came to work? Gosh, when you just got married last night, why don't you respect your wife at all?" Amanda asked with an incredulous look.
Aluna could hear her because she deliberately eavesdropped behind the wall.
"I don't love her, why should I respect her? She's just a stranger to me, I've only seen her a few times when we were kids. But it won't change the fact that I don't love him and this whole arranged marriage thing is just a fabrication on their part," Devano said with his flat face showing his displeasure.
"Devano, you can't do that. Your father could be disappointed, you know that Uncle Allen's relationship with your father is very close, unlike me who has lost my father since childhood and lives in Aluna's family. Of course Uncle Sam considers Aluna more than me, don't blame your father, he just wants you to get the best." Amanda's seductive voice that persuaded Devano was heard up to Aluna's ears, making Leny chuckle.
"You are indeed the most perfect girl, unfortunately why can't I just choose to marry you?" Devano said while reaching for Amanda's hand and clasping it. "If only Aluna was you, I wouldn't have come to work so soon," he added, making Leny even more annoyed and looked at Aluna who was still in place.
"From now on it's better that Miss should keep her distance from them, look at how disgusting those two people are."
Aluna sighed softly, ignoring Leny's words and decided to walk into her room.
