Being a human first

" Hey Patrick!",said Sam reaching for his hand for a shake, "mind if I go in there and talk to those prisoners?..... I just wanted to ask a few questions ,is it fine?"

"Yes buddy sure! What are you working on , by the way?", said Patrick

"I-....I am just working on catching up with things as an assistant of Mr. Ronald, some classified things..."

"Oh okay!",said Patrick and led him to their gate,"Go on"

Sam opened the door with the key and looked, and saw Marie eating biscuits and his father in a bed , a bed?

"This bed was not here before,was it?",asked Sam

"Yes , but I think Ronald is having pity on us",said Marie popping a biscuit in her mouth.

"Is it because you were sick?",asked Sam

"Well yeah! They provided this - ah ....this medicine, and my health has improved a lot more! Especially after I saw you, my son!",said Leo

"Twice in a day Sam.....got any news? Any update? On the vaccine..",asked Marie.

Sam looked at Marie and just couldn't bring himself to lie, but he did

"No",he said,"none"

"Well, that's unusual.... Ronald usually likes to do things in a hurry....what's taking him so long to make this serum...",said Marie

"I don't know but I think something is getting in the way ..... Maybe he will never complete it....and I break you out of here?.....",said Sam

"Don't even think about it Sammy! We haven't compromised this far just to go back again! We have to stay here to get updates on whatever's happening.....",said Marie

"I mean come on guys! What is the benefit? Of you staying here? All that is happening is that you are getting hurt and sick and tired! Whereas you could go home and rest! I can do the job here! I will keep you updated! Do you think I like to see you here everyday?! I have a family and you both are my family! ",said Sam

Leo looked at his son wisely and said," Come here", and hugged him and said,"Dont you think we ask ourselves the same question everyday? Don't you think it pains us to see you working with the most dangerous man? We compromise.... because we are the only family that needs saving...there are a thousand families out there! If we don't compromise, if we just run away, we are going to be declared cowards! And remember my son....you are my brave boy..... I get the strength from you . Seeing you there everyday......and hoping to see you again, that hope keeps your old father alive.....And you my boy..... Don't let me ever be ashamed..... Never be a coward....never..... And never put your needs before someone else's, because caring, getting hurt, getting back up, compromising, sacrificing, is all that makes us human.... Protecting the ones in need for the sake of their happiness and not letting people down is who you are and everyday when you are out there missing us, every minute, every second.....is a sacrifice from your side....a big sacrifice ......you are making .....for those people whom you don't even know for this whole city! For the world! Can you even imagine what you are doing? Only a brave hearted person can dare to lose something , to save something other. I cannot be any prouder..... You my son...are the bravest person I have ever set my eyes on..... You are a gift! Don't ever let me down.....So now, whenever you need to make any sacrifice....to save innocents,never back down! You have me and your sister my your side....always..... We love you"

Sam had tears in his eyes when Leo completed his talk

"And I love you both!",he said

"Me too...",said Marie smiling at them both and then standing up to come and make it a group hug.

"Okay now..... I wanted to tell you both something....",said Sam

"Yes ,what is it Sammy?",asked Marie

"Well due to some business of Ronald Labs , I need to go on a trip.....a business one.....there would be a lot of work to do ..... I don't wanna leave you both, but it's really important.....",said Sam

Leo looked at his son and said," Are you hiding something Sam?"

Sam looked at his father....how well he knew him

"No ...dad.... Nothing",lied Sam , not maintaining eye contact.

"Okay ",said Leo, not completely satisfied,"well , if it's important,then you have to go! Tomorrow?"

"Yes",said Sam

"Okay my son, we can take care of ourselves, now you take care of yourself..... We are safe ....just focus on yourself",said Leo

"Yes dad",said Sam and hugged his dad for the last time and got up. He hugged Marie and exchanged some words and he left the room, with a heavy heart

"Hey Sam!",said Patrick as he saw Sam getting out of the room,"did you get what you needed?"

"Yeah I did , thanks to you!", said Sam, smiling

"Yeah well it was nothing....!",said Patrick , blushing.

Sam was confused for a second but the smiled and tried to go on, but Patrick held his hand by the elbow and said," Hey well....just so you know.....lat time you told me to be a human ...a good human before I become a good guard....I took your advice man! I convinced Dr. Ronald to let me move a bed in there and supply him with medicine and other things required ....."

Sam first looked at Patrick and then smiled and hugged him and said," You are a true good person by heart Patrick...thank you..."

Sam smiled again and then walked away nodding leaving behind a smiling Patrick.

Sam knew that he had more things to worry about.

He had to convince Ronald now....a big business.....And so he walked towards the office ....of Dr. Ronald Ross Lucas.......
