They declined their heads, teeth bared, and I shuffled backward, not understanding, when I heard a brutal growl resonate from the trees before feeling fur scrub against my arm and Arthur’s scent wafting to me.
I was shocked he cleared the river without falling into its depths. I was more a vampire than a werewolf, so for me, jumping was easy, but he was in wolf form.
He growled, forcing his body over mine, and the five wolves roared back at him but backed down. His atmosphere emitting out of him made even me tremble, though it wasn’t directed at me.
I saw Seth’s wolf come up on my other side before striding toward them, prowling them and daring them to step closer.
Both their wolves were identical though Atticus, Seth’s wolf, was slightly wider while Tyrant, Arthur’s wolf, was taller.
Both were equally menacing, and their paws were bigger than my hands as they towered over me, covering me from Alpha Jamie’s pack warriors.
“Get back to the other side, Lucy! Now!” Seth snapped at me through the mind link, his eyes not vacating the five wolves.
They looked too frightened to move, and I would be too if I had both their deadly gazes on me at this moment.
Tyrant, Arthur’s wolf, nipped my hand when I froze in plSeth, his teeth puncturing my hand, bringing in me hiss, and jolting me out of my head.
“Now!” Tyrant’s deep gravelly voice made me whimper before I forced myself to my feet. I turned before running toward the edge and jumping across.
Arthur pursued in his wolf form, leaving Seth on the other side with the five wolves when he veered around his back on them, yet not one of them dared move as he ran toward the river and leaped it, clearing rather easily.
Atticus prowled toward me, and he grabbed my ankle, jerking me to the ground and ripping my legs out from under me.
I cried out as his teeth punctured through the flesh on my ankle. They never hurt me, no matter what I did, they never carried on like this, especially their wolves, but I could feel their auras hitting against me.
“You don’t ever cross the border!” Atticus snapped at me, making me flinch away from him.
I didn’t understand what was proceeding on. They were an alliance pack. Seth unexpectedly changed course back, taking back custody of his wolf, leaving him in a crouched role in front of me.
His glare made my blood run cold. He stood, and I averted my gaze from his nudity.
“Get up!” he said before stepping around me and walking into the trees, heading toward the packhouse. Tyrant came over, nudging me before pulling on my shirt.
“Now, Lucy,” Arthur’s voice flickered through my head. I turned, getting to my feet when I felt his tongue run across my ankle.
The wounds already almost healed, his saliva forcing them to heal immediately, and the tingling feeling repaid.
“Now. Start walking,” Arthur said, falling in line with me. Seth was walking ahead, and I could feel his aura even twenty meters away from him.
When We Got Close To the Packhouse, Seth stopped looking back at us, and Tyrant licked my fingers, making them tingle.
“You don't under any circumstances, Lucy. And you don’t cross into another territory!” Seth scolded me.
The glance he was putting on me made me grope like a naughty offspring. I hated it when he looked at me like that.
“Now, get in the f*****g car while I go grab some clothes!” he said, storming off. Arthur followed after him in his wolf form.
I walk toward Arthur's black Mustang before opening the door and ascent in. I couldn’t understand why Alpha Jamie’s pack would try to attack me. Something must have transpired while I was away.
Arthur came out first, clambering in the driver's seat. He didn’t say a word to me, and I could feel how angry he was about me taking off. Seth climbed in the front, looking over at me.
“Seatbelt, Lucy,” he said, and I huffed before clipping it in and folding my arms across my chest.
Arthur changed out of the driveway, and I tried not to think about the ass-whooping my mother would give me.
“Where were you going anyway?” Arthur asked, infringing the silence in the car.
“Mitchell’s,” I told him, looking out the window.
“You still talk to that fool?”
“He isn’t a fool. He is my friend. At least he wouldn’t give me over to my mother like you pair are doing,” I told him.
“Like he had a choice. Your mother is Queen. No one can go against her and my brother,” Seth said.
“You can resist her.”
“Yes, but we are Lycan offspring like my mother. But even still, your mother is Queen, and she can still command us. She just chooses not to since we are her brothers-in-law,”
Arthur said, looking in the rearview mirror at me. I looked away. She was going to kill me.
I wondered how Dad would take it. Knowing my stepfather, he would probably believe it funny, half the time when my parents fought, it was over me and my misadventures.
“Stop worrying, Lucy. Your mother will completely forget about what you have done, believe me. She will be more obsessed with killing Seth and me,” Arthur said.
“Why? What did you two do?” I asked curiously. Seth, I could probably picture getting in trouble and doing something.
Arthur, however, was always so serious these days. He was never like that thriving up. I think when he didn’t find his mate, it changed him.
He used to tell me all about mates when I was thriving up, and I knew he was excited to find his.
He was even saving himself for his mate, which made me wonder if he was still a virgin.
I knew Seth wasn’t, but Arthur wasn’t like Seth. I never saw him with another girl growing up. Maybe he was gay.
Leaning ahead in my seat, I asked him, “Are you gay?”
