It wasn't long before Alpha Cole and I returned home, Heaven was thanking me as if we had gone to war and come back. I didn't see the big deal really; it was an uneventful meeting. Minus the fact he kept watching me, I felt he knew something more than he let on. He already had a plan for how to conduct, and even knew what the punishment would be, even if he didn't state it right off the bat. I knew he was hiding something, and I was going to find out what that something was.
Alpha Cole requested I take a watch tonight, so I gladly sunk myself in my soft bed to catch some sleep before my patrols that night. My mind was racing with questions, why did he keep watching me? As far as I was aware Lycans didn't hold mate bonds like we do, but they can make them with whatever female they chose to mark and be with. Then the bond like we werewolves had would be created. I couldn't get my mind to stop, not my wolf for that matter. All I wanted was 15 minutes of pure, quiet bliss. I knew she was mad, she wanted to get closer to her mate, if you could call that scum that. Who did he think he was anyway?
I groaned, deciding a shower would be my best option to rid myself of the dirty thoughts of the Lycan Alpha. The hot water felt nice against my skin, my hair against my back as I sighed softly. That's when I felt a new presence in the room, I looked around a bit curious. I didn't see nor smell anyone; but I felt as if I was being watched. It was creepy that was for sure. The light rain of the shower barley caressed the bite mark, making a shiver race up my spine. I couldn't help but wonder what it would have felt like for him to touch it. Oh well, none of that mattered right now.
My pack comes first.
My pack always comes first.
I needed that reminder as I got out of the shower, I would be early but I guess I could easily go out for my watch now. I had nothing else better to do and sleep for me was starting to become difficult. Shifting outside in a private area, I started totting for the Western border. There had been multiple reports of Rogues in that area, and who better than a Beta to deal with the varmint issue. I could feel the cool evening breeze ruffling my fur, it was nice. The cool night air burned my lungs in a good way. It felt like forever since I had shifted, my wolf even felt more at ease now. Something was missing though, but I couldn't place it. Oh well I guess.
I found myself becoming so lost in my thoughts as I continued on, my ears listening to everything around me. The squirrels playing in the trees, the owls hooting away as the moon kissed the sky. It was all so serene so quiet. Stopping to get a drink from the small pond, I let myself relax a bit. Looking up I noticed a rather large male wolf watching me. His fur was a beautiful chocolate color, his eyes matching. A soft growl escaped my shift, my lips curling back into a snarl. His tail wagged, accepting my challenge. He didn't smell like a rogue, while yes he smelled mossy....but he smelled good? I slowly pushed myself up on my feet. He was bigger than me, but not by much. I growled again, my tail and head high. I swear I heard a chuckle as I approached him. 'What brings you to Black Falls?' I asked him curiously.
'Searching for a place to belong I guess.' He mused, sitting down to show me he was no threat. Being careful I eyes him up and down. 'A place to belong huh?'
'Yes ma'am.'
That sent shivers, making my fur stand on end. He noticed, a playful glint in his eye. 'Whats your name Rogue?' I questioned him. I could hear the Lycans getting closer; but this was my grounds and I had this situation under control. He bowed respectfully, 'My name is Remy miss.' He was so polite for being a Rogue. I truly didn't believe he was of any danger to us, let alone our food supply. He was too thin, coat too mangy to be over eating or hunting. 'I am Beta Devika.' I was clearly proud of my title.
'Devika.' My name rolled off his tongue like butter, I felt my heart skip a beat. That's when those cursed Lycan showed up. 'Beta Devika.' They said in unison, eyeing the rogue. 'Everything is fine here boys, continue your rounds.' I commanded firmly, they seemed to be mind-linking something, but continued after giving me a bow. I rolled my eyes, nosey dogs. I looked back at Remy, he seemed amused by my attitude. We continued to talk for hours, him walking with me as I continued my patrols.
It turned out he was from a small pack on the Eastern border that had been destroyed by angry humans. It was strange to me, the humans I met were always so polite and kind. He was also a very skilled fighter and Hunter, and had commented he followed a herd to the Western side, but something had scared them off. The best game he was able to find was the occasional rabbit, and birds if he was lucky. It was crazy, maybe we weren't the only packs being affected by this? There would be no way the Lycan's could have caused this kind of upset. I had to admit I was wrong.
Before I knew it we were back at my pack house, and I realized. I had brought this sweet Rogue into the den of the wolves. I shifted human, dressing quickly before offering him shorts and a shirt. "Come on, I'll introduce you to my Alpha and Luna, maybe they'll allow you to stay. Maybe even become part of the pack!" I stated excitedly. He shifted and dressed, I knew my jaw had hot the floor. He was HOT. Sandy blonde hair, a muscular body, amazingly blue eyes. His voice was husky in human form like it was in his wolf form. I took his hand in mine, giving a shy smile. I could tell his breath was taken away by my looks, I felt my cheeks going a deep red. I led him to Cole and Heaven. They both growling immediately. "Why have you brought him here!" They shouted. I held a smile, and bowed. "I believe he would make a great addition to our pack. As my own warrior." I listened as we discussed it, finally his fate was decided after hours of back and fourth.
Remy was my own personal warrior. He could stay.
