Alexander   Ella was dead.   She’d passed away during labor a week ago, and it still didn’t feel real. Not when the coroner came to take her away, not when the funeral director asked me to pick out a casket, and not even now, when her body was laying on display just downstairs.   She couldn’t be dead. I refused to believe it.
