Chapter Four

My wolf howled when she found him on top of a cliff in the shadows. His dark night fur merged with the darkness. He run to her, licking the fur on her neck…then he shifted back into his human form. “I want to see you,” he ordered softly, standing naked in all his glory before me. I did just as he had asked. “You’re so beautiful, Phoenix”, he leaned closer. Desire burned through his eyes, heating me up. “Do you feel that?”, Mason whispered running his nose up and down my neck. “The mate bond, its pull is too strong.” All I did was nod. I was still shocked at myself for betraying my pack on the battlefield. But Mason had a point, the pull of the mate bond was insane. “I’ve waited so long for this, Phoenix”, he sucked on the flesh on my neck. An involuntarily moan escaped my lips. “I’ve waited too long”, he trailed kisses across my collarbone and paused at my breast. “Come, I know a place.” I was annoyed that he had stopped worshiping my body but I followed him nonetheless, till we appeared at a cabin deeper in the woods. “No,” I hesitated. This could be a trap. “I’m not going to harm you, Phoenix”, he assured me. “You’re mine to protect now, I’d never hurt you.” I allowed him to usher me in and was instantly grateful to be away from the bite of the cold. The room had just one bed, a table and a chair. “Look at me”, he tipped my chin up with a finger. I stared into his stormy grey eyes. “This is wrong.” “Hush”, he bent his head to steal a kiss. “Let me take care of you now, we’ll think about the consequences later.” “Mason”, I tried to pull away but his lips were on my n*****s now. He gently lowered me onto the bed and hovered above me. “Say that again”, he demanded with a rasped voice. The desire burning in his eyes did things to me. Mason’s trailed feather-like touches down my body till his fingers felt the slickness between my thighs. “I asked you to say that again”, he slid a finger into me. “Mason”, I moaned when he slid in another finger and began moving in and out. “f**k, Phoenix”, he groaned against my neck sliding his fingers out. “I want to be inside you.” My blue orbs met his grey ones, the fact that he was seeking permission instead of taking me as he pleased, turned me on even more. “I’m yours, Mason”, my voice was low and thick with desire. Mason placed the heels of my feet onto his shoulders and slowly slid into me. My fingers dug into his back as he stretched me inside. I hadn’t been intimate ever since Kol found his mate and that was five years ago. “Ah!”, I gasped at the pinch I felt between my legs as he pushed deeper. Then he started to move, really move. Like there was an antidote within me he was searching for. My cries grew louder, my breathing shallow when he started to hit my sweet spot. f**k, I was going to lose it soon. “Mason!”, I cried out arching off the bed. I squirted over his thighs in the process before collapsing onto the bed. But Mason? He had the stamina of a lion, he kept going for what seemed like forever till I felt warm liquid oozing down my skin. “That was amazing”, he remarked, collapsing next to me. His chest heaved with every breathe he took. I smiled at his words and slipped out of the bed, to use the washroom. When I came back Mason’s head was propped in his palm. “What?”, my forehead creased. “Come here”, he beckoned with his finger. “Tell me what’s going on in your head.” I shook my head and look away. Nobody would understand. “I’ll be fine, not that you’d understand.” “Legend says I’d understand you better than anyone else”, he pressed. “Try me.” “Why would you care?”, I stared into the void. Why did fate have to be so cruel and mate me with the man who killed my father? “Because”, he sighed. “You’re destined to be with me forever. I’ll start caring eventually so why not now?” For a brief moment, we were occupied with silence. Both of us lost in our thoughts till Mason spoke. “We can end this war, Phoenix. Your people are mine now,” Mason stated but his statement didn’t resonate so well with me. “The people of the Shadowfang Pack do not belong to you, Moonstone.” “You’re going to be my Luna, my people will be yours and yours, mine,” he stated like it was the most logical thing ever. “And what if I don’t want to be your Luna?”, I taunted. Mason’s eyes darkened as a smirk spread across his face. “You my dear,” Mason got on top of me. “Are going to learn how to be compliant.” Being pushed around or dominated was a pet peeve of mine but Mason showing dominance turned me on in a weird way. When he was eventually done with me, not only did my insides feel like melted butter, my neck tingled from when he bit me. “You are the Luna of Moonstone Pack now,” a triumphant smile spread across Mason’s face. “How are you going to reverse that now with my mark on your neck?” “What are we going to do about the war?”, I evaded the question because I was too much of a coward to accept defeat. “The war you began?”, Mason’s voice was incredulous. “We’ll end the war on one condition.” “What?”, I quirked an eyebrow. “You’ll leave with me to the south where you belong”, came his response. This surely had to be some form of a joke. “You want me to leave my pack? My life?” “You belong to the Moonstone Pack now, Phoenix.” He
