Chapter 28 (Sitka. Wednesday, 8 p.m.) The Judge was in his robes and sat behind the bench. He looked stern. Joe Bob was standing formally to one side by the bailiff. Rosemary was standing between the two. “Is this everybody?” the judge asked. “It must be. Looks like most of the town is here.” He nodded at the clerk. “The court is now in order. Judge Robert Cast presiding,” the clerk announced. “This is formally an inquiry into a request for a warrant for the arrest of Rosemary Clausen for the kidnapping of a child. However, my questions will be broader than that. Officer Dixon?
