Chapter 20 (The Tongass. Wednesday.) Paul looked with appreciation around the camp Petras had made. He hadn’t even seen it until they were practically in it. Petras had started with a tent, added branches to hide it. He had water jugs, secure food storage, and a fire pit, all hidden behind a blind much like those used for hunting. Who was he hiding from? Paul wondered. Hank gestured toward the fire pit, using his chin again. “Jonas, you probably know how to start that fire,” he directed. Jonas moved silently toward it, found matches, and lit the fire. He found coffee makings and put that to boil over the fire. Paul sat down, still staying as far to Petras’ right as he could.
