13 GERRY O’ROURKE Gerry opened the front door of a large, ranch-style home and waved to a neighbor picking up the newspaper from his front walk. She watched Pam exit her car and said, “You have worry written all over your face. Come in.” Gerry had a model’s look, tall and slender with shoulder-length blond hair. She lacked, however, the pouty, forlorn expression and any inclination to spend time posing. In fact, she always seemed ready to play something outdoors—golf, tennis, badminton, even tag. Her cat-like prowl had an infectious energy that annoyed Pam, but usually sparked her to action.
