15 PLANS After his last class, Dan wandered to the school library, entered the reference section, and selected a volume that he’d looked at before. In the V-section of American Men of Science, he located his father’s name and read again the list of degrees, accomplishments, and honors, staring for some time until his vision blurred. He wasn’t sure why he did this, for he already knew what was there. Without a doubt his father was a big shot, a leader in his field. On one hand, it made him proud to have such a father.
